The Goal of the TransHydrogen Alliance (THA) Is to Ensure a Supply Chain and Export of Renewable Energy to the European Continent. Casa dos Ventos and Comerc Have Closed an Agreement for the Initial Production of Green Ammonia at the Porto do Pecém Plant.
Looking towards the future of the sustainable energy market, Casa dos Ventos and Comerc have entered into an important agreement with the TransHydrogen Alliance (THA). The companies have a plan to export the initial production of green ammonia from the Porto do Pecém in Ceará to the European market. Thus, the plant with a capacity of up to 2.4 GW of electrolysis will ensure a supply of renewable energy for the European continent.
THA Aims to Ensure a Renewable Energy Supply Chain in Europe by Exporting the Initial Production of Green Ammonia from the Casa dos Ventos and Comerc Project
The project for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia at Porto do Pecém in Ceará, conceived by Casa dos Ventos and Comerc, has taken new directions.
The companies announced an agreement with THA to carry out the export of initial production from the plant to the European market, using the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

Casa dos Ventos and Comerc have a pre-contract with Porto do Pecém for the installation of a production plant for these fuels, with a capacity of up to 2.4 GW of electrolysis, which could produce 960 tons of hydrogen per day and 2.2 million tons of ammonia per year.
Thus, they now seek to boost a regional market for these products in the coming years. The contract with THA for the export of green ammonia marks an important step toward that.
Furthermore, it will ensure greater benefits and contributions from Porto do Pecém towards the decarbonization of the European energy sector.
“We want to use the abundant renewable resources in Ceará and neighboring states to expand our decarbonization solutions abroad,” emphasized Lucas Araripe, CEO of Casa dos Ventos.
Various countries in Europe are already looking to Brazil as a source of renewable energy exports, such as Germany. The country’s Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, recently visited Brazil and reinforced the interest in working with the country to expand renewable energy and green hydrogen production.
Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia Plant, Initiated in 2021, Is Already One of the Major Bets for the Energy Market in the Coming Years
After signing the pre-contract with Porto do Pecém for the development of the green hydrogen and ammonia plant in December 2022, Casa dos Ventos and Comerc are expanding their actions to accelerate the project.
The development of the enterprise began in 2021 and is now in the environmental licensing phase and basic project to start implementation in stages.
The new fuel production plant will occupy an area of up to 60 hectares in the Export Processing Zone (ZPE Ceará).
The goal is not only to invest in the export of these products but also to foster a true renewable hub with socioeconomic contributions to the state of Ceará.
“Green hydrogen is the fuel of the future, but it is already a reality and a global trend,” commented Marcel Haratz, President of Comerc Eficiência.
With the new contract signed with THA for the export of green ammonia, Casa dos Ventos and Comerc are making significant progress on their project at Porto do Pecém.
