The property appears with two reported measurements, about 6 hectares and also 10 acres, reinforcing the idea of a large and loosely defined plot in listings and local delineation.

The access comes via a long driveway, estimated at about 150 meters, running parallel to the river. This detail alters the actual cost of any intervention: transporting wood, shingles, tools, and removing debris requires planning.

There were a table, decorations, a fireplace, and everyday items suggesting repeated stays, possibly linked to fishing and holiday seasons in the midst of the Canadian forest.

The collection of items was heterogeneous but coherent with an isolated routine: newspaper clippings, boxes, buckets, batteries, hoses, fishing knives, a double sink with plumbing, and a propane gas stove.

At one point, it was reported that the location of the abandoned house is not good because the area would have flooded, leaving the construction almost underwater in previous weeks.

This detail alters the decision-making process: before thinking about finishing, there is a need to evaluate foundation, flood elevation, and alternatives in higher areas of the land.

When the lake rises, the cost is not just material; it is also time, risk, and repeated failures.

Energy And Land Use In A Long-Term Project

The couple describes a self-sufficiency plan that considers the presence of water as an opportunity for energy, as well as alternatives like solar energy, since there are clearings and a deck with a concrete structure.

The abandoned house, however, enters this plan as an asset with liabilities: it requires stability before becoming a support space.

The land was valued not only for the lake but also for the connection to another nearby area and for the possibility of opening trails and hosting friends and family.

This objective gives context to why acquiring an abandoned house even with signs of deterioration makes sense: what is ultimately purchased is the combination of access, water, wood, silence, and potential.

In a Canadian forest, the hardest decision is often to admit that not every structure deserves to be saved, even when the landscape seems perfect.

Grande coisa, é normal encontrar construções deterioradas em áreas isoladas. Não acredito que compraram as cegas achando que tudo estaria em perfeitas condições. Agora é só reformar e morar. Estou muito preocupado, não vou conseguir dormir está noite
