MPMG Archives Complaint and Confirms Donation of Land to Laüt, Allowing for the Construction of a Brewery and Brewery Farm in Bom Despacho.
The brewery Laüt received an important authorization to start its construction project in Bom Despacho. The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Minas Gerais (MPMG) decided to archive the complaint made by councilwoman Aparecida Paré (PRD) regarding the donation of municipal land to the company. With the agency’s decision, Laüt is free to proceed with its plans to build a factory and a brewery farm in the city.
MPMG Decision
The Superior Council of MPMG decided not to open a civil investigation to examine the donation of the land, which was allocated to the brewery project.
Justice attorney Denilson Feitoza Pacheco, responsible for the opinion, stated that no evidence of irregularities in the donation or acts of administrative misconduct were found.

Councilwoman Paré claimed that the donation and expropriation of the 15-hectare land, carried out by the city hall, were illegal and unconstitutional.
In October 2023, the land was declared of public utility by the Bom Despacho city hall, followed by the expropriation in November, with a compensation of R$ 3 million paid to the former owner.
In December, the Municipal Chamber approved the transfer of the land to Laüt, allowing the construction of a factory and a brewery farm, which will include hop planting and trails for visitation.
Impact of Laüt’s Brewery on the City
Mayor Doctor Bertolino (Avante) expressed his satisfaction with MPMG’s decision.
He highlighted the importance of the project for Bom Despacho and the significant contribution that Laüt will bring to the local economy.
The mayor emphasized that the company plans to invest about R$ 13 million in building the facilities and create up to 500 jobs in the city.
Bertolino noted that Laüt will not only produce its beverages but also encourage hop production, benefiting small rural producers in the region.
He also mentioned that the investment is expected to increase municipal tax revenue, such as ICMS, IPI, and ISS.
Next Steps for Laüt’s Project
With MPMG’s final decision, the next step is the beginning of the licensing process for the enterprise. According to the mayor, Laüt should start the process within this month.
After obtaining the necessary licenses, the construction of the factory and the brewery farm is expected to take between 12 to 18 months.
The company has not yet provided an official comment on the project’s progress.
Reaction from Councilwoman Aparecida Paré
Councilwoman Aparecida Paré commented on MPMG’s decision, stating that she fulfilled her role as a watchdog.
She emphasized that the complaint was based on a legal opinion from the Municipal Chamber and was not a personal initiative.
Paré also reiterated her concern about the availability of water on the donated land, essential for beer production.
However, she expressed hope that Laüt would find an adequate solution to this challenge and that construction of the factory would begin as soon as possible.
Paré also suggested that an alternative location, the old Fazenda Febem, with more than 250 hectares and better water supply, could have been a more suitable option for the factory’s installation.
Despite this, the councilwoman reiterated her support for the city’s development and the job creation provided by Laüt’s project.
MPMG’s decision represents an important step for the economic development of Bom Despacho.
With the completion of the licensing process and the start of construction, Laüt’s arrival in the city promises to bring significant investments and create new job opportunities for the local community.
The brewery is expected to start construction of the factory and the brewery farm, according to the planned schedule, and contribute to the economic growth of the region.
