With 3.6 V6 Engine of 286 Hp, 6-Speed Automatic Transmission and All-Wheel Drive, the Chevrolet Captiva 2012 Delivers Premium Comfort and Luxury Performance for Around R$ 50 Thousand in the Used Market.

During the early 2010s, the Chevrolet Captiva was a symbol of luxury and accessible technology in Brazil. Imported from the United States, the SUV was the brand’s bet to compete with models like the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, and Toyota RAV4, offering more engine, more comfort, and a robust look. Today, more than ten years later, the Chevrolet Captiva 3.6 V6 2012 emerges as a real find in the used market, available for prices between R$ 45 thousand and R$ 55 thousand, according to the FIPE Table, delivering the performance and comfort of a premium car for the price of a used compact.

Abundant Power with 3.6 V6 Engine and All-Wheel Drive

The main highlight of the Captiva 2012 is the 3.6 V6 Alloytec engine, the same used in luxury models from General Motors, such as the Cadillac CTS. This setup delivers 286 hp of power and 36.8 kgfm of torque, ensuring acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, performance that is still impressive.

The transmission is six-speed automatic with manual mode and smooth shifts, working in harmony with the all-wheel drive (AWD). The mechanical setup ensures strength in any situation, whether on the road or in urban areas, without sacrificing stability and comfort.

Despite its weight of nearly 1,800 kg, the Captiva offers surprisingly balanced handling. The well-tuned chassis and independent suspension on all four wheels provide stable behavior in curves and a firm ride, worthy of much more expensive SUVs.

Superior Comfort and Finish

Inside, the Captiva V6 is a true luxury SUV disguised as a family car. The interior finish utilizes high-quality materials, with leather seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat, digital air conditioning, multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, and even heated front seats — something very rare in the current price range.

The dashboard, with a clean and ergonomic design, features a complete onboard computer, as well as a multimedia center with Bluetooth connectivity in the more equipped versions. The interior space is spacious for five occupants, and the 583-liter trunk offers generous capacity for trips.

North American Safety and Robustness

The Captiva V6 2012 comes with one of the most complete safety packages of its time, featuring six airbags (front, side, and curtain), ABS brakes with EBD, traction and stability control, hill start assist, and Isofix system for child seat attachment.

The body was designed within the rigorous standards of the North American market, and the sense of solidity is noticeable when driving. Even with the passing of years, many examples remain without structural noise, reflecting the good quality of assembly.

Consumption and Maintenance of the Chevrolet Car

Consumption, as with any V6 SUV, is not a strong point: the average is 6.5 km/l in the city and 9 km/l on the highway with gasoline. However, the Captiva compensates with above-average performance and comfort.

Maintenance is relatively simple, as GM kept many parts in common with other models of the brand, such as Malibu, Omega, and Cruze. The network of independent workshops offers extensive support, and the cost of basic services ranges from R$ 600 to R$ 900, while mechanical replacement parts are easily found.

The points that deserve attention are the cooling system (water pump and radiator) and the automatic transmission, which requires regular fluid changes every 40,000 km. With these precautions, the Captiva V6 easily exceeds 250,000 km without major issues.

Depreciation Became an Advantage

When launched, the Captiva cost more than R$ 120 thousand, positioning itself as a luxury SUV. Today, the model has lost market value, but this depreciation benefits those looking for a powerful and comfortable car at the price of a popular vehicle.

For around R$ 50 thousand, you can get an SUV that offers three times more power and features than current 1.0 compacts. It’s a car suited for those who value performance, space, and high-level finishes and don’t mind fueling a V6.

A Forgotten SUV with a Premium Soul

The Chevrolet Captiva 3.6 V6 2012 is one of the clearest examples of how depreciation can turn a luxury car into an excellent deal. It delivers sports car power, executive sedan comfort, and top-tier safety for a fraction of the original price.

For those seeking a complete, robust SUV full of personality, the used Captiva V6 is a rare opportunity, a car that was born premium and aged with dignity.

My husband was diagnosed of Parkinsons disease 2 years ago, when he was 49. He had a stooped posture, tremors, right arm does not move and also a pulsating feeling in his body. He was placed on Senemet for 8 months and then Sifrol was introduced and replaced the Senemet, during this time span he was also diagnosed with dementia. He started having hallucinations, lost touch with reality. Suspecting it was the medication I took him off the Siferol (with the doctor’s knowledge) and started him on PD-5 natural herbal formula we ordered from AKNNI HERBAL CENTRE, his symptoms totally declined over a 3 weeks use of the AKANNI HERBAL Parkinson’s disease natural herbal formula. He is now almost 51 and doing very well, the disease is totally reversed!
