Artificial Rainbow to Keep Drivers Alert? China Develops Revolutionary Technology that Promises to Transform Road Safety. Discover All About the Innovative Artificial Rainbow!

China, recognized as one of the most advanced technology countries in the world, has just surprised with an invention that seems straight out of science fiction movies. It is an artificial rainbow, developed to help drivers stay alert during night trips. Created through an innovative lighting system, this rainbow illuminates the roads in a stunning way, projecting vibrant colors that stimulate attention and reduce the risk of accidents caused by drowsiness at the wheel.

In addition to its practical function, the invention also adds a fascinating visual element, making the experience of driving at night something unique and futuristic. This technology is yet another example of how China combines science and creativity to solve everyday problems impressively.

How the Artificial Rainbow from China Works?

A video that went viral on social media, reproduced by various profiles and viewed by millions of people, has intrigued internet users. In the video, a series of colorful lights is projected from a device towards vehicles on a highway at night. It is an artificial rainbow to keep drivers awake.

The images, captured from a camera installed inside a vehicle, actually show the use of technology aimed at road safety.

The lights, which are being called China’s artificial rainbow, are actually laser beams emitted on a Chinese highway, and their mission is to eliminate driver drowsiness and reduce the risk of accidents. The artificial rainbow to keep drivers awake, still in the experimental phase, has sparked debates about its effectiveness, as they are designed to stimulate the driver’s visual nerve with their stroboscopic effect.

These laser beams have a range of up to 2 km and are positioned to stay above the driver’s eye level to avoid blinding them. The idea is that when faced with this artificial rainbow from China, the driver regains attention and, eventually, even reduces speed.

China’s Artificial Rainbow Installed Over a 1,600 km Stretch

The new laser technology has been installed over a 1,600 km stretch of the Qingdao-Yinchuan Highway in northern China. The driver who recorded the original video highlights that he felt more alert after being exposed to the beams, which alternated colors of red, purple, blue, and green. The comparison to Rainbow Road (the Rainbow Path from the Mario Kart video game) is inevitable, generating various memes and comments on social media.

An internet user stated that the idea might end up blinding drivers and claims that those who are not sleepy now may become disoriented. Still discussing the artificial rainbow to keep drivers awake, another user joked that it hypnotizes and will make them fall asleep immediately.

The use of lasers to keep drivers awake is yet another safety strategy available worldwide. Other countries and automakers have already tested or are testing technologies with the same purpose, such as seat vibration systems and motion sensors to detect signs of sleep.

Experts Diverge on China’s Artificial Rainbow

Chinese traffic safety experts have differing opinions on the effectiveness of the artificial rainbow to keep drivers awake. Some argue that visual stimulation can indeed help keep drivers more alert, especially during long night journeys. Others, however, question whether the distraction caused by the colorful lights may increase the risk of accidents.

Some argue that, while the initiative helps keep drivers awake for a time, the solution is not permanent and may not be enough for long trips.

There are those who say that driver safety should be the priority and that any measure capable of reducing the risk of accidents is worth testing. Additionally, there are concerns about possible side effects from exposure to intense light, such as eye fatigue and headaches.
