With Colonial Charm and Quiet Rhythm, Ouro Preto Attracts New Residents Seeking Quality of Life, Active Culture, and Good Education

Ouro Preto, in the mountains of Minas Gerais, is more than a tourist city. Its stone streets, baroque churches, and welcoming atmosphere make it a sought-after destination for those wanting to live well. Founded in the 18th century during the Gold Cycle, it was once the capital of the captaincy and maintains a strong connection to the past.

Walking through Ouro Preto is like walking through the history of Brazil. But that’s not all. Today, the city attracts new residents seeking tranquility, safety, and a life more connected to culture.

Quiet and Safe Life

Living in Ouro Preto is, for many, synonymous with quality of life. The pace is calmer than in big cities. The environment is welcoming, and walking through the streets is a visual experience, with old mansions and mountainous landscapes.

The cost of living is affordable compared to major urban centers. Public services receive positive reviews, the climate is mild, and the hospitality of the residents reinforces the feeling of well-being. All of this contributes to a lighter and more enjoyable daily life.

Ouro Preto: Reference Education and Cultural Experience

One of the pillars of Ouro Preto is education. The city is home to the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), which attracts students from various parts of Brazil. The university boosts the local economy and enriches cultural life.

Besides UFOP, there are good public and private schools. Heritage education is valued, with projects that integrate culture and learning. Museums and cultural centers help keep history alive and make knowledge part of the city’s routine.

Weekend with Nature and History

Ouro Preto has leisure options for all tastes. For those who appreciate history, visiting churches and museums is a must. The Church of São Francisco de Assis and the Museum of Inconfidência are highlights and hold important parts of national memory.

For those who prefer nature, the city also offers trails, waterfalls, and beautiful landscapes in the Serra do Espinhaço. Local craft fairs showcase the talent of regional artists, and events like the Winter Festival enliven the streets with music and art.

Active Culture and Good Gastronomy

The cultural life of Ouro Preto is intense. Old mansions become spaces for exhibitions and performances. There are workshops, folk festivals, and events throughout the year. Art is present in the daily life of the residents.

At the table, the city maintains the Minas Gerais tradition. Dishes like “feijão tropeiro” and chicken with okra are popular, but there are also more elaborate options. Homemade sweets, such as dulce de leche and “pastel de angu,” are part of the local identity.

Ouro Preto: Work Focused on Tourism and Education

Even without a strong industrial park, Ouro Preto has a dynamic job market. Tourism is one of the main drivers of the economy, along with education and mining. Bars, inns, shops, and restaurants offer diverse opportunities.

The presence of UFOP favors areas such as technology and research. Many residents also invest in cultural and ecological tourism, setting up small businesses and taking advantage of the city’s unique characteristics.

In Ouro Preto, history and future walk together. The city preserves its past while offering quality of life, opportunities, and a lighter routine with mountain scenery for those who choose to live there.

Ouro Preto é maravilhosa. Visitei Ouro Preto muitas vezes. Vale a pena visitar as outras cidades históricas também. Agora, para o turista Ouro Preto não é nada barata. Acho que só perde para Tiradentes.
