What Is Officially Announced
According to the manufacturer, the C3 XTR and Aircross XTR variants will be part of the national range and will display unique visual details, such as logos and external appliqués, to reinforce off-road appeal without altering the traction system (4×2).
The company released teaser images featuring the emblem on the trunk lid but did not present specific technical data for the XTR versions.
According to the portal Autoesporte, which exclusively anticipated the information, the expectation is that the series will play a prominent role within the national lineup.
Engines And Transmission Currently Offered
While the details of the XTR are not yet confirmed, it is worth noting what already exists in the C3 and Aircross lines.
In the C3, the current range combines the 1.0 Firefly aspirated engine with 75 hp and 10.7 kgfm with a 5-speed manual transmission, in addition to the option of the 1.0 turbo T200 coupled to a CVT with 7 simulated gears.
These configurations are already available in the hatch in Brazil and indicate the mechanical standard currently offered in the family.
In the C3 Aircross, sold since its launch only with the more powerful setup, the 1.0 turbo flex engine of up to 130 hp and 20.4 kgfm remains, paired with the CVT with 7 gears.
This configuration is included in official materials and technical documentation for the SUV, including five- and seven-passenger versions.

Position In The Range: What Is Known And What Is Missing
Citroën has not informed the commercial positioning of the XTR within the C3 and Aircross lines.
Currently, the Aircross has the Shine version as the top option with the 1.0 turbo engine and CVT transmission, a scenario where an XTR series is likely to be positioned at the high end of the portfolio due to its content and image — however, the official positioning has not yet been communicated.
Regarding the C3, there is also no confirmation on whether the XTR will exclusively adopt the turbo powertrain or if it will combine with the aspirated 1.0.
According to Autoesporte, the trend is for the adventurous hatch to adopt the more powerful engine to align with the Aircross XTR and occupy the top range of the line.
What The XTR Was In The Past
The XTR badge reached the Brazilian C3 in 2006 and remained until 2012, when it was discontinued with the rise of the Aircross as the brand’s adventurous offering.
At that time, the proposal focused on a robust look with plastic appliqués and exclusive finishing elements.
The history shows that national production of the C3 XTR ended in 2012, concluding the first cycle of the version in the country.
Elevated Suspension: Myth Or Reality In Brazil?
There were significant differences between markets.
In Europe, the XTR had adjustments that included raising the suspension in certain years.
In Brazil, periodic evaluations at the time recorded no mechanical changes, including no increase in ground clearance compared to other C3 versions.
In other words, the local adventurous characterization was fundamentally in design and accessories, not in chassis reinforcements or traction.
What To Expect From The Official Communication
Without a price list, without an exact start date for sales, and without a finalized list of equipment, the current stage is one of brand and image announcement.
The market expects the XTR line to include new internal finishing items and specific visual details, repeating the strategy seen in the past and the path of other special series in the segment.
However, any statement about the technical content of the new versions depends on the disclosure from Citroën itself.
How The Current Line Helps To Contextualize The XTR
The fact that the Aircross already features the 1.0 turbo of up to 130 hp with CVT helps to understand the technical basis on which an XTR could be based in the SUV, especially as it is currently the only engine available in the model.
In the C3, the coexistence of the 1.0 aspirated and the 1.0 turbo in the portfolio suggests possible paths of combination for the series, but the manufacturer has not yet confirmed which engine will equip the new hatch XTR.
Recent History Of Prices And Versions
Throughout 2024 and 2025, the C3 and Aircross underwent adjustments and range restructuring, with the C3 YOU! 1.0 turbo consolidated as the automatic option for the hatch and the Aircross maintaining the 1.0 turbo in all versions.
As prices vary by promotional period and region, Citroën has not associated prices with the announcement of the XTR.
Thus, any price comparison today serves only as a market reference, awaiting the official pricing of the new series.
Autoesporte also reminds that in the past, the XTR badge helped Citroën compete in the adventurous compact segment, a trend that the brand is seeking to revive now in its Brazilian portfolio.
Finally, the return of the badge reactivates a well-known name for the brand’s audience and reposition the C3 and Aircross with an adventurous appeal.
