Compagas Sets Records in Paraná with Over 7,000 New Gas Connections, Expands Network, and Projects R$ 505 Million in Investments by 2029. Check Out the Highlights of the Expansion.
The Paraná Gas Company (Compagas) is experiencing a decisive moment for the energy future of Paraná. In just the first half of 2025, the company connected over 3,500 new customers to the gas network, a number nearly three times higher than the same period in 2024.
With new contracts, ongoing works, and expansion into the interior of the state, the company positions itself as a leader in energy infrastructure investments.
The forecast is to invest R$ 505 million by 2029, expanding the distribution network and bringing service to strategic regions, such as Londrina and Maringá. The goal is to make natural gas more accessible, efficient, and sustainable for homes, businesses, and industries.

“We are in a strategic moment for the natural gas sector in Paraná,” says Eudis Furtado, CEO of Compagas. “Our commitment is to continue advancing in the universalization of service and in serving new markets.”
Gas Network Grows and Already Serves Over 62,000 Customers in Paraná
The expansion of the gas network has been happening at a rapid pace. From January to June 2025, Compagas achieved 3,500 new connections, nearly matching the total of connections made throughout the previous year.
As a result, the number of consumers jumped to 62,000 across Paraná, covering 16 municipalities. In Curitiba, the adoption is even more significant: about 70% of new real estate developments are already connected to the network, reinforcing a trend towards cleaner and more economical energy solutions.
Additionally, the company signed over 10,000 new contracts in the semester—a record driven by entry into new markets.
Investments Expand the Gas Network in Strategic Regions
Part of the investment package is directed towards large infrastructure projects. Highlights include the construction of a 52 km gas pipeline between Araucária and Lapa, budgeted at R$ 108 million, which has a direct impact on logistics and industrial development in the state.
Another R$ 100 million will be allocated to new pipelines in the North and Northwest regions, while R$ 14 million will be invested in expanding the network in Curitiba and the metropolitan region.
These projects not only increase the system’s reach but also offer more security and efficiency in supplying natural gas.
Interiorization Brings Natural Gas to Londrina and Maringá
Compagas’ interiorization plan is making strong progress in Northern Paraná. Londrina will receive 70 km of gas pipeline, powered by biomethane, a renewable source that enhances the company’s sustainability strategy.
The city will support the industrial, commercial, residential, and vehicular sectors. So far, 4 km have been completed. In Maringá, 19 km of network will be installed, initially focused on serving industrial customers.
These projects are part of the new concession cycle established with the Government of Paraná, effective since July 2024. In just one year, there have been over 7,200 new connections—four times more than the previous period.
Sustainability and Gas Mobility: A Priority in Paraná
Compagas’ investments also include decarbonization actions. The Sustainable Corridors project allows for truck traffic powered by gas on routes connecting Londrina to Paranaguá and linking to states like São Paulo and Santa Catarina.
The company is also studying the use of natural gas in public transport buses and garbage collection trucks, promoting a sustainable circular network.
“Paraná has enormous potential to incorporate natural gas and biomethane into its road transport matrix,” emphasizes Furtado.
Compared to diesel, natural gas emits up to 25% less greenhouse gases. Biomethane can reduce emissions by up to 87%, directly contributing to improved air quality in large urban centers.
Natural Gas Grows in All Segments in the State
Currently, Compagas serves:
- 180 industries
- 840 commercial establishments
- 33 gas stations
- 62,000 residences
This diversity reinforces the strategic role of the company in the energy matrix of Paraná, both in environmental performance and economic competitiveness.
With over 36 km of network already installed in this new cycle, Compagas aims to reach 21 municipalities in the coming years.
Continuous investments ensure that the company keeps pace with the growing demand for natural gas, offering modern, sustainable solutions tailored to local needs.
