2W Energy Is Developing a Solar Plant Capable of Generating Energy for 300 Thousand Homes in Ceará. The Project Promises to Generate 700 Jobs for Residents of the Region.
2W Energy will install a solar energy generation park in the municipality of Icapuí, located on the eastern coast of Ceará. A total investment of R$ 800 million will be made, with an estimate of generating 700 jobs during the construction phase. According to Cláudio Ribeiro, an executive at the company, construction is expected to begin in the second half of next year, and the completion of the solar plant is scheduled for June 2024.
Solar Plant in Ceará Will Have a Capacity of 204 MW
The 2W Energy project in Ceará, named Kairós Solar, will have an installed capacity of 204 MW, enough to generate solar energy for 300 thousand homes per month. The project will be installed in an area of 650 hectares.
The solar energy generated will be sold on the free market. 2W Energy is already negotiating with suppliers of solar panels and equipment, as well as designers. According to the company’s executive, the solar plant will utilize part of the infrastructure of the Kairós wind power park, which has already begun construction in the same municipality in Ceará.

The CEO emphasizes that the company has found essential solar radiation measurements in this area and created this solar energy project.
It is a hybrid project, as it utilizes the same location and infrastructure as the wind project. Together, the two renewable energy ventures exceed R$ 2.2 billion in investments.
Of this amount, the wind power park, which has an installed capacity of 261 MW (enough to supply 2 million homes), will absorb R$ 1.4 billion. Ribeiro states that 2W Energy is certainly establishing itself among the three largest investors in the state of Ceará in this segment.
300 Jobs Have Already Been Generated at the Hybrid Renewable Energy Plant
The executive highlights that there are already 400 professionals working in the municipality of Ceará. At its peak, the construction of the wind plant is expected to generate 3 thousand direct and indirect jobs. Ribeiro adds that the labor force used in the projects is primarily local, contributing to the qualification of workers in one of the rapidly growing sectors in the state of Ceará.
2W Energy is generating jobs and forming a rotating workforce, given that there will be several investments in clean energy, professionals end up being hired for other projects by other companies.
The giant solar plant is in the installation phase of the construction site, building access roads, digital suppression, and earthworks. The project will be installed in two phases. In the first phase, a capacity of 112.5 MW will be installed. This phase will feature 25 turbines produced by Vestas at its factory in Aquiraz.
The Northeast Bank is financing phase 1 of the project, with an investment of R$ 422 million. The second phase, scheduled for the first half of 2023, will involve the installation of 148.5 MW, with 33 wind turbines of 4.5 MW each.
2W Energy Invests in the Social Sector
2W is also making investments of approximately R$ 10 million in social compensation in Icapuí, creating projects for the community. One of them is the financial subsidy for the development of the Master Plan for the Municipality of Icapuí, in partnership with the municipal government and the academic community of Ceará.
According to the director of the Kairós project, Luis Rahuan, the company believes that the development of the Kairós Wind Complex will result in significant progress in the region’s development, with job creation and increased tax revenue.
