With In-Person Assessments in November and December, Mensa Brazil Seeks New Members with Intelligence Well Above Average in 29 Cities and 14 States, Strengthening the Discussion About Giftedness and Inclusive Education in the Country

Mensa Brazil has opened the calendar for in-person collective tests to identify individuals with high intellectual abilities in different regions of the country. The assessments will take place between November and December, in 29 cities across 14 states, focusing on adults who wish to find out if they are among the top 2 percent scoring on standardized intelligence tests.

The initiative from Mensa is not limited to recruiting new members. The organization also aims to broaden the public debate on giftedness, support the formulation of inclusive education policies, and create support networks for individuals with intelligence well above average, who often go unnoticed by the traditional educational system.

Where Mensa Brazil Will Hold the In-Person Tests

In this round of assessments, Mensa Brazil has organized a concentrated calendar between November and December, with the administration of in-person tests in 29 cities.

The tests will occur in different regions of the country, in capitals and inland cities, as a way to facilitate access for candidates in multiple states.

Among the planned cities are Campinas, Sorocaba, Timóteo, Vila Velha, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Campo Grande, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Goiânia, Indaiatuba, Londrina, Maceió, Natal, Palmas, Pouso Alegre, Recife, Ribeirão Preto, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, São José do Rio Preto, São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Uberlândia, Itajubá, Manaus, Patrocínio, Jundiaí, and Piracicaba.

All Mensa assessments will be in-person and supervised by a psychology professional, in accordance with the guidelines of the Federal Council of Psychology. The exact location and time are informed individually to the registrants.

Who Can Participate in Mensa Tests

The tests of Mensa Brazil in this campaign are aimed at individuals aged 17 or older who are enrolled in or have completed higher education, even if not entirely.

The proposal is to focus on an adult audience capable of handling the test format and interpreting the results.

The association emphasizes that the exam is an opportunity for adults to discover if they have a profile for high intellectual abilities and, if they meet the required performance, may join the Mensa member network.

This network already includes thousands of members in Brazil and in several countries, functioning as an environment for intellectual exchange, networking, and project development.

Why Identifying High Abilities Is So Important

For Mensa Brazil, identifying individuals with intelligence well above average is an essential step in improving the understanding of giftedness in the country.

The president of the organization, Carlos Eduardo Fonseca, emphasizes that the current educational provision does not yet reach all individuals with this profile, which can lead to underutilization of potentials and paths marked by frustration and disengagement.

The discussion about giftedness, according to Mensa, is also a discussion about rights. Recognizing high abilities is part of building an inclusive education that serves both those in need of support for deficiencies and those requiring additional stimulation.

By acting in identification and offering intellectually stimulating environments, Mensa seeks to contribute so that these individuals find suitable spaces for personal and professional development.

How Mensa Brazil Works and Its International Connection

Founded in 2002, Mensa Brazil is the official representative of Mensa International in the country. Membership in the association is based solely on performance in standardized intelligence tests, which classify the candidate within the top 2 percent scoring of the population.

There is no evaluation of academic history, profession, or income, only the objective metric of the standardized IQ test.

Currently, Mensa Brazil gathers about 6,000 people identified with high intellectual abilities. Globally, Mensa International surpasses 159,000 members, distributed across 90 countries.

The association’s activities are structured around three main fronts: identifying and promoting human intelligence for collective benefit, encouraging research on the nature and use of intelligence, and creating an intellectually stimulating and accessible environment for members.

How to Register for Mensa Brazil Collective Tests

Registration for the collective tests of Mensa can be done directly on the official website of the organization, at mensa.org.br.

In the registration process, the interested party chooses the desired city and subsequently receives detailed information regarding the location and timing of the assessment, always in an environment supervised by a psychologist.

Mensa itself emphasizes that the test is not a label, but a tool for self-knowledge and connection.

For those who are approved, the association opens doors to a community of individuals with high abilities and offers a structured space for intellectual exchanges, events, interest groups, and projects in different areas.

For those who do not meet the cut-off, the experience can still serve as a performance benchmark and encouragement for new academic or professional paths.

Given Mensa Brazil’s movement to bring intelligence tests to 29 cities, an inevitable question arises: would you consider taking the Mensa test to find out if you have a profile for high intellectual abilities and to connect with this community of gifted individuals?
