AutoBild Tested Various Models Until 100 Thousand Km To Discover Which Cars Maintain Reliability; Audi A3 Shone And Volkswagen Golf Accumulated Failures

A carro leaves the factory perfect, running well and without apparent defects. However, when it reaches 100 thousand kilometers, the situation changes. Many vehicles start to show problems in the engine or other systems. The German company AutoBild decided to find out which models resist this wear and tear better.

The AutoBild Test

AutoBild evaluated several new cars until they reached the 100 thousand kilometers mark. The goal was to verify which ones maintained reliability after long drives.

For each failure recorded, the vehicles received negative points.

Surprisingly, the first place did not go to a Japanese car, as many expected. The champion of the ranking was the 2017 Audi A3 Sportback g-tron, which completed the test without any problems.

The Most Reliable Models

Among the vehicles that performed well, common models in Europe stand out. Unlike Brazil, where SUVs are a trend, over there, C-segment hatchbacks are the preferred choice for family trips.

So, check out the top five in the test:

  • Audi A3 Sportback g-tron 2017 — 0 points
  • Mercedes A 220 d 2022 — 4 points
  • Toyota Prius 2021 — 4 points
  • Ford Focus Station Wagon 2.0 EcoBlue 2015 — 5 points
  • Hyundai i30 1.6 CRDI — 5 points

Additionally, it is worth noting that only the Audi remained completely intact, without any damage.

The Worst In The Ranking

If some models stood out for their resilience, others were marked by failures. See how some well-known cars disappointed.

Here are the five worst rated:

  • Renault Mégane TCe130 2019 — 13 points
  • Kia ProCeed 2021 — 14 points
  • Hyundai i30 N 2024 — 19 points
  • Seat Leon 1.6 TDI 2016 — 29 points
  • Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI 2016 — 32 points

Therefore, the contrast between the best and worst results is quite significant.

Japanese Cars Surprised

Japanese cars, known worldwide for their reliability, had various positions. The Toyota Prius was among the top scorers, but other models from Japan appeared further down.

This shows that the AutoBild test brings different conclusions from common perceptions.

European Test

Finally, it is worth noting: the list reflects the European market. These are the most common models there. In Brazil, where SUVs and popular compact cars dominate, the results would be different.
