Current Situation of the Contest
The press office of Banco do Brasil stated that there is no confirmed forecast for the release of the next announcement.
However, information released by Estratégia Concursos indicated that the selection would be in the study phase.
Therefore, even though nothing is officialized, there are signs of internal movement regarding the holding of the test.
Furthermore, the current contract with the Fundação Cesgranrio keeps open the possibility of new tests until December 2025.
Contract with Cesgranrio
The agreement between Banco do Brasil and Fundação Cesgranrio was signed on December 11, 2020.
Initially, its validity would be for 12 months, with a clause allowing an extension of up to 60 months. This point is central to understanding the next steps.
The first phase was valid from December 2020 to December 2021. Then, there was a 24-month extension, until December 2023.
Subsequently, a new extension was granted, also for 24 months, ensuring the contract’s validity until December 2025.
The question now is whether the 60 months include the initial validity period or not. If they do, the contract ends in 2025, with no chance for a new extension. If not, the validity could extend to December 2026.
Possibility of a New Announcement
The contractual addendum states that as many selections as necessary can be organized until December 11, 2025.
Therefore, Cesgranrio remains a possible organizer of the next contest. This scenario strengthens the expectation of a new announcement still within the contractual period.
However, if there is no extension, Banco do Brasil would need to hire a new organizing bank. This could impact the schedule, but it does not prevent the contest from being held.
Impact of the Elections
Another point of concern among candidates is the coincidence with the electoral calendar of 2026.
Many are questioning whether it would be possible to publish the announcement during the election period. According to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the answer is clear: holding contests in an election year is allowed, without any restrictions.
What the law prohibits is the appointment of servers during the electoral campaign period, except in specific cases. This rule is stipulated in article 73 of the Law No. 9.504/1997. However, there are important exceptions.
If the contest is homologated three months before the start of the electoral period — that is, by July 2026 — appointments can occur normally, even during the campaign. If the homologation occurs after that date, calls can only be made starting January 2027.
Timeline of Previous Contests
The recent history helps to understand how the issue unfolds in practice.
In 2021, Banco do Brasil published an announcement in June. This contest was homologated before July 2022, allowing calls throughout the entire electoral period that year.
Subsequently, in December 2022, another announcement was released. Despite also coinciding with an election year, there were no impediments to its execution.
The homologation took place in 2023, already after the end of the electoral campaign, without restrictions for calls.
Therefore, experience shows that the electoral calendar does not prevent the publication of announcements; it only imposes care regarding the homologation timeframe.
Expectations for 2025 and 2026
In summary, the next Banco do Brasil contest depends on two main factors: the definition regarding the validity of the contract with Cesgranrio and the choice of the best moment for the publication of the announcement. Meanwhile, candidates need to monitor official updates.
Even in an election scenario, the TSE confirms that there is no prohibition against holding contests. What changes is only the possibility of appointment in certain periods, conditioned to the homologation calendar.
Thus, the holding of the test remains an unknown. But the maintenance of the contract with Cesgranrio until December 2025 and the authorization for contests in an election year keep expectations alive. Candidates remain attentive, awaiting the final decision of Banco do Brasil.
