Extended Competition Strengthens the Perspective of Additional Calls, Sustained by Petrobras’ New Voluntary Dismissal Program, Which Foresees the Exit of 1,100 Employees and May Reignite the Demand for Hiring Technicians in Various Areas of the State Company, Increasing the Hope of Over 3.1 Thousand Approved Candidates in the Reserve List Awaiting Call-Up
Petrobras decided to extend, on this Monday (8), the validity period of the public competition held in the second half of 2023, aimed at filling technical positions. The information was officially announced in the Official Gazette of the Union, published this Tuesday (9), and represents a new scenario of opportunities for thousands of candidates still awaiting call-up.

The Extension Strengthens Expectations Among the Approved Candidates
With the decision, the Petrobras competition now has an extended validity until June 2027, significantly increasing the possibilities for new calls. According to data released by the Single Federation of Petroleum Workers (FUP), more than 3.1 thousand approved candidates in Reserve List (CR) continue to expect to join the company.
The previous competition covered 916 immediate vacancies, in addition to 5,495 opportunities in the reserve list, a number that reinforces the extent of the repressed demand and the potential for personnel movements within the state company in the coming years. According to an article released by the FUP, the organization argues for the need to reinforce the technical staff, claiming that expanding call-ups strengthens Petrobras as a strategic company for national development.

The organization also emphasizes that the extension “increases the possibilities of call-up, values the workers, and reinforces a personnel policy aligned with strengthening Petrobras as a public, efficient company committed to the country’s development.”
PDV May Anticipate New Call-Ups and Open Path for a New Public Notice
As the atmosphere of expectation grows among the candidates, Petrobras also announced, in early November, a Voluntary Dismissal Program (PDV). According to the company, the forecast is that 1,100 employees will retire throughout 2026, creating a gap that will need to be filled gradually.
These initiatives, according to the company’s positioning, are part of the internal planning outlined in its Business Plan. Petrobras stated that the financial impact of the measure will be recognized as the adhesion is implemented, and affirmed that the PDV is an important tool for the continuous and gradual renewal of the technical staff, ensuring knowledge transfer and operational maintenance.
This movement often precedes the opening of new public competitions, which may reignite the competition for technical positions in areas such as operation, maintenance, inspection, and safety – sectors that historically show higher turnover and demand for replacement.
Real Chances of Call-Up by 2027 and Favorable Scenario for Candidates
With the announced extension and the projected dismissal program, the scenario is now considered widely favorable by the approved candidates of the Petrobras competition. Public career specialists and unions assess that the number of call-ups could be significant given the extended validity period, the public defense made by the FUP, and the projection of over a thousand professionals leaving in 2026.
Additionally, the state company’s history shows that internal restructurings often motivate new selection cycles. Although there is still no official confirmation of a new public notice, the combination of PDV, extension, and operational demand reinforces the expectation of movement in the company’s recruitment sector over the next few years.
