The SAP SP Contest (State Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration of São Paulo) Is About to Take Place, Offering a Total of 1,100 Vacancies for the Position of Penitentiary Security Officer.

Schedule and Exams
According to the basic project of the selection, the announcement of the SAP SP Contest should be published soon. The deadline for the publication of the announcement is by Friday, July 14, considering that the release will occur within 15 days after the signing of the contract with the organizing institution, the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV).
After the publication of the announcement, applications will be opened five days later and will last for ten days. The objective exams will be held 30 days after the closing of applications. That is, if the announcement is released on the last day of the deadline, on June 14, applications may be submitted starting on the 19th, with closure on July 29. The exams are expected to take place on August 27 or September 3.

Vacancies and Requirements
The SAP SP Contest offers a total of 1,100 vacancies for the position of penitentiary security officer, with 1,050 allocated to men and 50 to women. To apply, it is necessary to have completed high school and be between 18 and 74 years old by the date of appointment. The initial salary for the position is R$ 3,515.72, which can reach R$ 4,301.39, considering the additional insalubrity allowance of R$ 785.67. The application fee will be R$ 95.
Expected Applications: The State Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration of São Paulo expects to receive around 70,000 applications for the SAP SP Contest. From the total number of applicants, it is estimated that 50,000 will be men and 20,000 will be women.
Responsibilities of the Position
The penitentiary security officer has several responsibilities in the exercise of their duties. Among them, we can highlight:
- Registering the admission of inmates;
- Guiding newly arrived inmates, explaining the functioning of the cells and utensils, as well as the norms of the unit;
- Collecting and escorting inmates to their cells, securely locking them;
- Taking roll call of inmates, checking for possible absences and taking necessary actions;
- Opening and closing cell doors, allowing inmates to fulfill their duties in the institution, according to superior determinations;
- Monitoring and accompanying inmates in the cells, during work, physical exercise, meals, medical, dental, and psychological visits, closely observing their behavior to prevent rebellions, assaults, escapes, and other disciplinary infractions;
- Examining entry and exit permits for outsiders, strictly following the authentication criteria defined by the unit;
- Conducting personal searches on visitors and others who access the unit, seeking to seize prohibited or suspicious objects;
- Inspecting and registering the entry and exit of vehicles, preventing violations of established rules;
- Monitoring and confiscating prohibited items inside the establishments through searches;
- Taking action in cases of disputes among inmates, collecting them to disciplinary cells;
- Reporting cases of fire, disturbances, escape attempts, evasion, and other occurrences that characterize disciplinary infractions or irregularities, following the rules of the establishment;
- Observing the movement of internal inmates in the prison system units; and
- Conducting other related activities.
Details of the Exams: According to the basic project of the contest, the objective exam will consist of 50 questions, distributed as follows:
- Portuguese Language: 20 questions
- Mathematics: 15 questions
- General Knowledge: 15 questions
The selection process will have five stages, which are:
- Objective Exam
- Physical Conditioning Exams
- Psychological Evaluation
- Proof of integrity and good conduct in public and private life
- Social Investigation
Last SAP SP Contest: We will now highlight some information about the last SAP SP Contest for the position of penitentiary security officer, held in 2017. At that time, 1,034 vacancies were offered, with 934 for men and 100 for women. The organizing institution responsible for the contest was MS Concursos.

The objective exam of the last contest consisted of 50 questions, divided as follows:
- Portuguese Language: 25 questions
- Mathematics: 15 questions
- General Knowledge: 10 questions
