An Inauguration with Impact on the Local Economy
Catuaí Shopping Cascavel, in the heart of the city, arrives with a gigantic and innovative structure, offering over 270 stores in a total area of 106,000 square meters, of which 83,000 are built.
This new space includes shops, a cinema, gyms, a supermarket, a food court with capacity for more than 1,500 people, as well as a pet park, children’s area, and education center.
This project not only revolutionizes the city’s retail sector but also strongly boosts the local economy, providing 8,000 new jobs, comprising 2,000 direct and 6,000 indirect jobs, according to statements from the governor of Paraná, Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior.
The governor attended the inauguration and celebrated the investment, highlighting how Cascavel, an economically significant city, contributes to the development of Paraná.
“This shopping center is yet another reflection of the growth of the service sector, which reinforces Cascavel’s role in the State’s economy,” said Ratinho Junior, further noting that the monumental investment helps to consolidate Paraná as one of the main job hubs in Brazil.
Structure to Serve the Entire Region
The new shopping center was not built solely for shopping. With a recreational area and diverse services, Catuaí Shopping Cascavel aims to position itself as a meeting point to address everyday demands.
According to Alfredo Khouri, president of Grupo Catuaí, the shopping center was designed to provide convenience to visitors.
“This is a space to fulfill all needs in one place: shopping, health, food, and even education. We aim to meet all the needs of Cascavel residents and those surrounding areas,” he explained.
The location of the shopping center was strategically chosen.
Close to the Municipal Lake and the Cascavel Zoo, places with significant traffic, the commercial center has the potential to attract not only local residents but also visitors from other cities in Western Paraná.
The expectation is that the space will receive around 30,000 people on weekends, generating even more movement and boosting the local commerce.
A Boost for the Service Sector and Local Commerce
In addition to providing leisure and convenience, Catuaí Shopping Cascavel has become a substantial source of jobs.
With an expectation of massive hiring, the Worker Agencies in the region are in full operation to guide interested candidates to the job openings.
There are 4,299 job opportunities available in the Cascavel region, with emphasis on positions such as cashier and sales representative. Looking for a job?
Interested individuals should visit the Worker Agency branches or advanced job placement posts to apply.
For local commerce, the shopping center’s inauguration means more than just new jobs; it’s an opportunity for growth and strengthening the regional economy.
The Festval supermarket chain, one of the anchor stores of the shopping center, has created more than 200 jobs with the opening of its new unit.
This boost is part of an economic revitalization strategy that positions Paraná among the states with the highest job creation in 2024.
The Strength of Paraná in the National Employment Scenario
In the economic landscape, Paraná is not left behind. According to data from the General Registry of Employed and Unemployed (Caged), the state created 152,898 formal job vacancies between January and September 2024 alone.
The service sector leads the hiring, with 77,750 vacancies, followed by industry, construction, and commerce.
In September, Paraná recorded a positive balance of 14,828 new jobs, an increase of 67% compared to the same period the previous year.
This performance highlights Paraná in the national scenario, especially in the Southern Region, where the State leads job creation for women and youth.
The inauguration of Catuaí Shopping Cascavel is seen as another advancement in this positive context, reinforcing the development of the service sector and adding value to the city.
Grupo Catuaí: Tradition and Innovation in Shopping Centers
Grupo Catuaí, responsible for the venture, has been operating in the shopping center sector for over three decades.
Founded in the late 1970s, the group already has five shopping centers in Paraná, including those in Londrina, Maringá, and Foz do Iguaçu.
According to Khouri, the success of Catuaí Shopping Cascavel reflects the expertise acquired by the group over the years.
The shopping administration is also receiving resumes directly, and those interested in participating in this new phase of retail in Paraná can send their information through the shopping’s administration website.
A New Era for Western Paraná
The inauguration of Catuaí Shopping Cascavel represents a new phase for the city and the Western region of Paraná. The local economy is thriving, and the venture arrives to add to the service sector, commerce, and leisure.
For Mayor Leonaldo Paranhos, the shopping center will be a regional reference, attracting not only residents but visitors from various neighboring cities.
“It is a complete entertainment, leisure, and shopping park that will invigorate the economy of Cascavel and benefit the entire region”, the mayor stated.
And what do you think about this transformation?
With a billion-dollar investment and the creation of thousands of jobs, the new shopping center promises to attract consumers and create unprecedented economic activity for Cascavel and all of Western Paraná.
But does a venture of this size really benefit the entire population? What impact do you believe it will have in the long run on local commerce? Leave your opinion in the comments!
