For the construction of 12 new thermoelectric plants, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) released R$ 2 billion in financing for the implementation of UTE Marlim Azul Energia SA  

Even though Macaé already has two functioning thermoelectric units, it will also receive a pioneering electricity generation project involving the company Shell and UTE Marlin Azul Energia. The new thermoelectric plant will be built in the Logistic and Industrial Complex of Macaé and will have 565,5 MW of installed capacity, enough to supply two million homes.

Last Wednesday, 02/09, a text of Bill 6407/13, changed the regiment for exploration of gas pipelines on national soil, now passing from concession to authorization, it was precisely what ended up breaking Petrobras' natural gas monopoly.

Thus, all companies involving natural gas and oil activities will only be able to operate with an authorization issued by the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP). Without a shadow of a doubt, once built and when the construction process of the new thermoelectric plant in Macaé begins, it is estimated that more than 1.500 direct jobs will be generated.
