Couple renovates century-old church with cemetery and transforms it into a modern mansion valued at over R$ 11 million.
An unusual detail draws attention in a luxurious mansion in England: it is surrounded by a cemetery with over 300 graves. The space, which was once part of an old church, was preserved by a couple who completely transformed the property through a million-dollar renovation.
Even after the transformation, the location retains important historical records, including the burials of combatants from World War I and World War II.
The external structure of the church was also preserved, as the building is considered a historical heritage, which limited changes to the exterior during the renovation.

Church turned mansion with modern and integrated spaces
Inside the old church, the scene is completely different from the past. The space has been adapted to become a comfortable mansion, with spacious and well-distributed areas.
The altar, for example, has ceased to be a religious space and now functions as a large living room, with a dining table for eight people and decor that mixes modern and classic elements.
Just above, a mezzanine with an office was installed, taking advantage of the original height of the building and the entry of natural light.
Additionally, the former chancel has been transformed into a cozy space, equipped with a wood-burning stove.

Church renovation required total dedication from the couple
The transformation of the church into a residence required much more than financial investment. During the work, the couple faced moments of doubt and even questioned whether they had made the right decision.
To closely monitor each stage, they began living in a trailer set up on the property.
The routine was marked by constant challenges, from structural problems to complex decisions about space utilization.
Still, the renovation continued to progress, focusing on preserving the identity of the property while creating a functional environment.
Abandoned church was purchased at auction for a low price
Before becoming a mansion, the property was in critical condition. The church, built in 1846, no longer had a roof and showed clear signs of abandonment.
The couple acquired the property in 2017 for about R$ 660,000 during an auction.
Even in the face of precarious conditions, they saw potential in the Gothic structure and decided to invest in the renovation.
Videos available on the internet show the level of destruction of the place, with deteriorated furniture and signs of frequent invasions.

Million-dollar investment transformed church into valued mansion
To complete the transformation, the couple invested about R$ 3.2 million in the renovation of the old church. The amount was applied to the complete reconstruction of the interior and the adaptation of the space for residential use.
With the project finalized, the property became a high-standard mansion and was put up for sale for approximately R$ 11.6 million. The appreciation reflects not only the investment but also the originality of the project.
Thus, the old abandoned church became an example of how vision and planning can completely transform a space, uniting history, architecture, and modern comfort.
