How the Process Works and Who Can Participate
The announcement that CPB opens applications for undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships for paralympic athletes encompasses all the rules, participation criteria, and obligations of the selected candidates.
Among the 70 spots offered, 50 are allocated for undergraduate studies and 20 for postgraduate studies, all valid for courses offered by the Estácio network.
On the other hand, there are important exceptions. The scholarships do not apply to courses in medicine, dentistry, hospitality, veterinary medicine, biomedicine, and gastronomy.
At the postgraduate level, options related to medicine, dentistry, gastronomy, aeronautical sciences, and Executive MBA are also excluded.
The complete list of available courses is organized in separate links for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, as indicated by CPB.
Priority Criteria for Athlete Selection
To define the scholarship recipients, the Brazilian Paralympic Committee will follow a priority order based on sports history.
Thus, candidates who have participated in competitions recognized by the paralympic movement will be given preference. The order is as follows:
Athletes who have competed in the Paralympic Games for Summer or Winter.
Participants of World Championships (adult) recognized by CPB or confederations.
Athletes who competed in the Parapan American Games.
Competitors from international events not included in the above items but officially recognized.
Athletes participating in national competitions validated by CPB or confederations.
Support professionals, such as guide athletes, goalkeepers, and pilots, respecting the limit of 10% of the spots.
This structure seeks to value those who already represent the country at a high level and also those who participate in official CPB programs.
The Importance of the Citizen Athlete Program
The announcement that CPB opens applications for undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships for paralympic athletes is part of the ongoing actions of the Citizen Athlete Program.
Created to support the comprehensive development of the athlete, the program offers professional guidance, educational incentives, and support throughout all stages of the career, from sports initiation to post-career.
According to the Committee, the initiative aims to “stimulate the full development of citizenship for athletes and former paralympic athletes,” strengthening not only their sports journey but also their professional prospects.
Thus, CPB reinforces its strategy of ensuring that athletes can build a sustainable career both inside and outside of sports, expanding pathways for the future.
