Missing Children in Bacabal Mobilize Security Forces and Volunteers in Intensive Searches Almost 24 Hours a Day in Maranhão.

The missing children Ágata Isabelle, 6, and Allan Michael, 4, have been sought since Sunday (4/1) in the village of São Sebastião dos Pretos, in Bacabal, in the countryside of Maranhão.

The search began after the siblings left home to play with their cousin Wanderson Kauã, 8, and did not return.

Since then, intensive searches have mobilized hundreds of professionals and volunteers in the region.

Thus, the operation takes place practically non-stop, with a joint effort from the security forces, support from the Army, and a broad mobilization of volunteers.

The priority is to locate the children alive, in an area considered difficult to access.

Intensive Searches Advance in Thick Forest Area

The intensive searches are concentrated in a vast region of thick forest, with the presence of rivers, lakes, and areas surrounded by farms.

The scenario makes the work of the teams difficult, requiring the use of technology and specialized strategies.

According to the mayor of Bacabal, Roberto Costa (MDB), the efforts continue almost 24 hours a day.
“Drones, helicopters, and sniffer dogs are being used.

The searches are conducted continuously, almost 24 hours a day,” he stated.

The geography of the location requires increased attention, as there is a risk of disorientation, wild animals, and flooded terrain.

Security Forces Act in an Integrated Manner

The security forces involved include military personnel from the Fire Department, battalions from the Military Police, and teams from the Civil Police.

This joint effort allows for an expanded search area and accelerates search actions.

On Friday (9/1), the operation received strategic reinforcement. Twenty-four soldiers from the Jungle Infantry Battalions (BIS) of the Army joined the teams, following a request from the state government of Maranhão.

Cousin Was Found Alive and Is Under Review

Wanderson Kauã, the cousin of the children, was located alive on Wednesday afternoon (7/1).

He was weak, frail, and visibly distressed, and was taken for immediate medical attention.

According to the mayor, the boy remains hospitalized and is receiving psychological support.

The teams reported that Wanderson communicates better with the responsible psychologist, who conducts careful work to try to understand what happened during the disappearance.

Wanderson’s father, José Wanderson Cardoso, reported to local TV that his son was familiar with the area and used to play there frequently.

Volunteer Mobilization Reinforces Operation

More than a thousand people have traveled to Bacabal to help with the searches, coming from nearby communities and other cities in Maranhão.

The city hall provides logistical support to the operation.
“We have been providing logistical support to the operation, offering around 1,200 daily meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, for everyone involved in the work,” the mayor told Correio.

This support ensures that the intensive searches continue without interruption, even in the face of the physical weariness of the teams.

Civil Police Investigates Different Hypotheses

While the searches continue, the Civil Police of Bacabal conducts parallel investigations. Considering hypotheses ranging from disorientation in the forest to other possibilities that are still under analysis.

Emotion and Expectation for Positive Outcome

The case has generated strong emotion in Bacabal and throughout Maranhão.

Family members, residents, and volunteers anxiously monitor the progress of the intensive searches, holding on to the hope for a positive outcome.

The authorities emphasize that all possible measures are being taken and that the mobilization of volunteers continues to be welcome, as long as it is coordinated by official teams.

Meanwhile, the security forces maintain continuous work, focused on locating the children and providing answers to the families.
