The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) announces the opening of the selection process for the free master’s course in education, class of 2025, according to Notice No. 1178, dated December 20, 2024. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals to deepen their knowledge and develop research in various areas of education. The program offers 54 vacancies distributed between general competition and affirmative actions, with opportunities for different profiles.

The free course aims to train masters in education capable of developing research and projects that contribute to educational transformation. Activities include theoretical classes, group discussions, seminars, and the development of a dissertation. The total workload of the program is 405 hours, with mandatory and elective subjects conducted in person on the Praia Vermelha campus, Rio de Janeiro.

36 vacancies for general competition.
18 vacancies reserved for affirmative actions, distributed among self-declared black, brown, indigenous candidates, persons with disabilities, and other groups.

Classes will take place on the Faculty of Education campus, in the Urca neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, with the possibility of remote activities in specific cases.

Selection Processes

The selection process will be conducted in three stages:

Written exam (eliminatory), with general and specific questions from the chosen research line.
Oral examination, based on the pre-project and Lattes curriculum.
Validation of self-declaration for candidates competing for affirmative action vacancies.

Candidates who are not classified for the reserved vacancies can still compete for the general vacancies, based on their performance.

Requirements for Course Enrollment

To participate in the free course, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or a declaration of course completion and submit a research pre-project. Documents such as Lattes curriculum and specific certificates are also required. Those opting for remote examination must prove residence more than 250 km away and ensure internet access.

Written exam: February 21, 2025
Oral examination: April 15 to May 13, 2025
Final result: June 27, 2025
