In The Interior Of São Paulo, An Airport Transforms Its Role In The International Scene, Attracting Major Companies, Expanding Aircraft Maintenance And Promoting Innovation In Brazilian Aviation. Historic Change Brings New Prominence To Sorocaba.

The officialization of the internationalization of “Bertram Luiz Leupolz” State Airport in Sorocaba marks a historic turning point in the Brazilian aviation sector.

The ceremony, held at the terminal located in the Northern Zone of the city, was attended by the CEO of Rede Voa SP, Marcel Moure, and the mayor of Sorocaba, Rodrigo Manga.

The new status of the airport, published by the Federal Revenue in the Official Gazette on July 15, 2025, was also approved by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) and positions Sorocaba as the second largest aircraft maintenance hub in the world, behind only New York.

Internationalization Of The Sorocaba Airport

Sorocaba, which for years remained on the sidelines of major airport investments, now stands out as an international reference in the aircraft maintenance segment.

The internationalization of the airport allows maintenance, repair, import, and export services for aircraft to be carried out directly on-site, significantly broadening the reach and relevance of the São Paulo terminal.

The initiative results from a joint effort between the municipal administration and Rede Voa, responsible for managing the airport.

The internationalization process is considered strategic not only for the local economy but also for the national aerospace industry.

The Sorocaba airport, according to information released by the City Hall and Rede Voa, will be able to receive aircraft from anywhere in the world for specialized maintenance and repair services.

This includes executive aircraft from foreign companies such as the American NetJets, one of the largest private aviation operators in the world.

Embraer Expansion And Economic Impact

The presence of the Embraer Service Center in Sorocaba gains new momentum with this change.

The Brazilian company, globally recognized for its technological innovations and leadership in the regional and executive aviation segment, will expand its international operations by receiving aircraft from clients in various countries.

Moreover, the increase in the flow of foreign aircraft to the terminal promises to boost qualified job creation, stimulate the local supply chain, and attract new investments to the region.

Rede Voa And The Advancement Of Airport Infrastructure

Rede Voa SP, the concessionaire responsible for managing the airport, highlighted that the internationalization process followed all the stages required by national regulatory bodies, including approval from the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and Anac itself.

CEO Marcel Moure emphasized that this achievement is the result of a continuous effort, initiated years ago, focused on operational excellence and meeting the demands of the global aviation sector.

Among the main benefits of internationalization is the authorization for the airport to operate international flights aimed at maintenance, which includes the entry and exit of aircraft coming from abroad for technical and operational services.

This advancement represents a new era for the Sorocaba airport, which now integrates a select group of Brazilian terminals authorized for this type of operation, increasing Brazil’s competitiveness in the global aircraft maintenance market.

Sorocaba: New Aeronautical Hub And Opportunities For The Interior Of São Paulo

The expansion of activities at the airport is expected to bring positive impacts not only for Sorocaba but for all of São Paulo’s interior.

The strengthening of the aeronautical hub in the city encourages the training of specialized labor, boosts the emergence of new businesses, and favors partnerships between national and foreign companies.

Furthermore, the internationalization consolidates the municipality as a strategic destination for airlines seeking quality, safety, and innovation in maintenance services.

The arrival of international aircraft for maintenance at Sorocaba airport also represents an important alternative for operators throughout the continent, who now have an excellent option outside traditional major urban centers like New York or Miami.

The initiative elevates Brazil to the level of a protagonist in the segment, highlighting the potential of São Paulo’s interior and the national industry.

Milestone For Brazilian Aviation

The “baptism” of the first international flight, expected to occur within 72 hours after the scheduled arrival, symbolizes the start of a new phase for the “Bertram Luiz Leupolz” State Airport.

The expectation is that this event will be a milestone for the municipality and for the entire industry chain, projecting Sorocaba onto the global scene and reinforcing its position as a reference in aircraft maintenance.

Currently, the airport’s expansion is already mobilizing companies, suppliers, and specialized professionals, consolidating the city as a dynamic and innovative center.

For experts, investments in infrastructure, technology, and labor qualification are aligned with the growth of the Brazilian aviation sector and international demands, making Sorocaba an example of economic and industrial transformation.
