The British Oil Company BP, After Investing R$ 1.47 Billion in Acquisitions, Will Start Its Drilling in the Pre-Salt of the Santos Basin

According to statements from the president of the British oil company BP, the company intends to begin its first exploratory campaign in the Pre-Salt, as operator, between 2021 and 2022.
After spending the last two years acquiring six exploratory blocks in the Campos and Santos basins, four of which are within the pre-salt polygon, where it made investments of R$ 1.47 billion in signature bonuses, the company plans to start drilling in Pau Brasil, in the Santos Basin.

Operations in Brazil

Present in the country since the 1970s, with over 50 years of activity in the energy sector in Brazil, it currently holds 21 concessions in four different Brazilian geological basins, located on land and at sea, being one of the international companies with the largest deep water exploration portfolio in the country.

BP operates in the segments of lubricants production (Castrol) and biofuels (BP Biofuels), oil and natural gas exploration and production (BP Energy), maritime fuel distribution (BP Marine/NFX), and aviation (Air BP),

The company employs about 7,000 people across its various business units and has activities in 15 states (Amapá, Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Santa Catarina, São Paulo) and in the Federal District.

After closing, in the second half of last year, a leniency agreement with the Federal Public Ministry that returned R$ 1.4 billion to the public treasury, SBM is back in the game and on top.
The Dutch company won the bidding that competed alongside Modec and MISC and will build the FPSO that will operate in the Mero 2 field in the Libra block. Click here to see the full article!
