After Nearly A Decade Of Standstill, The Company Jataí Agroindustry Resumes Its Activity With A Great Ethanol Project, Boosting The Local Economy.

The municipality of Jataí, in Goiás, celebrates the resumption of operations of the Jataí Agroindustry of Biofuels. After nearly ten years of standstill, Jataí Agroindustry is starting ethanol production. The company’s project, which aims to strengthen the local economy, is already generating 500 direct and indirect jobs, with a forecast of moving R$ 28 million monthly. The resumption of activities at Jataí Agroindustry is an important milestone for the city. This project from the company is a great advancement for industrial activity in Jataí.

Advantages of Jataí Agroindustry’s Ethanol Project

The new plant of Jataí Agroindustry has the capacity to process 500 tons of corn per day, resulting in 210,000 liters of ethanol, 125 tons of DDG (a byproduct used in animal feed), 7.5 tons of corn oil, and 50,000 liters of syrup from vinasse daily.

Jataí is one of the main cities in the state of Goiás in corn production.

According to Vital Nogueira, the engineer responsible for the project, the new plant of Jataí Agroindustry is capable of processing both corn and sorghum, which is also widely cultivated in the region.

The industry, by focusing on this project, brings benefits not only to the company but also to local farmers.

“Goiás grows a lot of grain sorghum, which is used for animal feed. This way, Jataí Agroindustry will be able to process both crops, generating a high-protein feed,” explains Nogueira.

He also highlights that there is potential to double production at the company’s facility. “This plant of Jataí Agroindustry will add value to local production, allowing corn harvested in Jataí to be processed right here,” he celebrates.

Challenges Faced by The Company

Jataí Agroindustry, owned by entrepreneur Walter Giacomini, faced a series of challenges throughout its trajectory.

For ten years, the company dealt with bureaucratic obstacles and a lack of political support to obtain the necessary certifications to start its operations.

The situation for the company began to change in August 2024, when the vice mayor of Jataí, Geneilton Assis, and Senator Wilder Morais began leading negotiations in Brasília.

“This is an example of how courageous entrepreneurs and a development-oriented policy can transform a region,” says Assis.

He emphasizes that the revenue generated by the company will have a direct impact on the local population, with investments in health, education, and infrastructure, highlighting the importance of the company’s activities.

Biodiesel Production and The Future of Jataí Agroindustry

Recently, the new ethanol plant of Jataí Agroindustry received authorization from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

The unit, which shares the same CNPJ as the former biodiesel plant, was authorized to operate after the cancellation of the biodiesel license, which occurred in January of this year due to lack of necessary documentation.

This turnaround is a major victory for the company.

While the former plant had the capacity to produce 18 million liters of biodiesel per year, which represented only 0.1% of the total in Brazil, the new Jataí Agroindustry plant promises to have a much greater impact.

With the end of the standstill and the resumption of activities, the company is prepared to transform local production and contribute significantly to the regional economy. Jataí Agroindustry, with its innovative project, represents a new era for industrial activity in Jataí.
