Created To Be The Most Powerful Car On The Planet, The Devel Sixteen Had Its Engine Ready — But The Rest Of The Car Was Never Ready For Such Power

In the heart of the Middle East, specifically in Dubai, one of the most ambitious automotive proposals in modern history emerged: the Devel Sixteen, a hypercar designed to surpass any known limit of power, speed, and engineering. With the promise of delivering 5,000 hp, the project stood out not only for its superlative numbers but also for the uncertainties that accompanied it since its conception.

A Megalomaniac Vision On Four Wheels

The Devel Sixteen was presented to the world during the 2013 Dubai International Motor Show. From the beginning, the vehicle was marketed as an unprecedented hyper-sportscar, with performance surpassing any car ever built. The initial proposal included not only breaking records but also redefining the concept of automotive performance.

The idea was simple, at least on paper: to develop a 12.3-liter V16 engine with four massive turbochargers that would generate 5,000 hp and allow the car to reach the theoretical mark of 560 km/h. A number so absurd that it was met with skepticism by the global automotive community.

A Colossal Engine Created In The USA

The development of the powertrain was handled by American Steve Morris Engines, a company specialized in building high-performance engines for extreme applications. In a widely shared video online, Steve Morris himself revealed details of the construction process of the V16, which was nothing more than the union of two GM-origin V8 engines, interconnected by an ECU (electronic control unit) designed specifically for this fusion.

The result was a functional engine that, according to Morris, reached exactly 5,076 hp in dynamometer tests. To measure this colossal power, it was necessary to acquire specific equipment, as none of the conventional systems could handle such a load. The camshaft itself, displayed alongside the engine in the videos, impresses with its size, indicating the unusual scale of the project.

The Car That Never Came Out Of The Shadows

Despite the successful completion of the engine, the real difficulty was far from over. The true challenge was to create a car capable of safely and practically harnessing this power. From developing a chassis capable of absorbing the torque to creating suspension, transmission, and traction control systems, everything had to be designed from scratch. Aerodynamics also represented a critical point: Maintaining stability at such high speeds requires advanced knowledge, exotic materials, and hundreds of hours in wind tunnel — something not yet publicly demonstrated by the project’s creators.

Another murky point was the commercial viability. Although the Devel Sixteen has been announced in different versions, including models with 2,000 hp and even 3,000 hp, with limited production, the prototypes displayed to the public were mostly models or incomplete vehicles, without real proof of performance.

The Promise That Still Hangs Over Dubai

Despite global interest and repercussions on social media, the Devel Sixteen remains an enigmatic project. The company Devel Motors continues active on platforms like Instagram and YouTube, publishing conceptual images and promotional videos. However, so far, no functional unit has been delivered to the market, nor have independent tests confirmed any of the claimed specifications.

Many experts believe that the project has been quietly paused or abandoned, although the founders insist that development is still ongoing. The lack of concrete evidence, combined with the time elapsed since the launch, increases skepticism.

Between Myth And Extreme Engineering

The Devel Sixteen is still one of the boldest projects ever announced in the automotive industry. Its proposal challenges not only the limits of mechanics but also the very technical feasibility of putting 5,000 hp on the streets safely and with control. If this hypercar ever hits the tracks, it will go down in history as the realization of a mad dream fueled by oil and radical engineering.

Until then, it remains a symbol of ambition, raw technology, and a question that still hasn’t been answered: is it really possible to tame a monster of 5,000 horsepower?

O carro foi criado. Só que não. Orar, ora,eu também tenho imaginado um carro com o dobro disso aí. Imaginado, ok?
