Vestas, The Danish Wind Turbine Manufacturer, Announced A New Billion-Dollar Investment In Paraíba For A Wind Power Project Aiming To Generate 600 Jobs And 252 MW Of Installed Capacity.
At the end of the previous week, the governor of Paraíba, João Azevêdo, signed the letter of intent with the Danish wind energy company Vestas, at the Palácio da Redenção, located in João Pessoa. The company is developing a project for the installation of wind power parks, aiming to bring the projects to the municipalities of Araruna, Riachão, Cacimba de Dentro, Cuité, and Damião. The project, called Fragata, promises to generate about 600 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase.
Wind Power Project Will Have The Capacity To Power Over 125,000 Households
Initially, the wind power parks will have an installed capacity of 252 MW of electricity. All of this will be generated by winds for the Brazilian market and will be capable of supplying the consumption of over 125,000 families.
On the occasion, the governor highlighted the state’s potential for generating clean energy and the ability to attract new investments. All of this aims to generate sustainable development and prepare the state for the future.

Region Has Great Wind Resource Potential
According to Jessé Bortoli, head of development in Brazil for Vestas Desenvolvimento SA, the predominant factors for the installation of the wind power park in Paraíba. The region has significant wind resource potential, crucial for Vestas to make this investment in development, combined with logistical infrastructure and the skilled local workforce available for project work.
At the same time, Stevan RuSchel, managing partner of Engineering at Renobrax Renewable Energies, highlighted the social and economic aspects of the renewable energy project. This is an enterprise that makes it possible to generate direct and indirect income.
It brings great benefits to the local population by increasing the participation index of the municipalities. This increases wealth production and income distribution. The company will work to get the project operational as soon as possible.
Vestas Will Open A Maintenance Service Center In Bahia
Vestas also has plans in Bahia, aiming to build the second maintenance center. A significant portion of the facilities is concentrated in the area, generating even more jobs for the region. The impact is quite significant, not only on wind turbine production activities.
The company has a unit in Aquiraz, but also manufactures blades and towers through partners with projects, with designers who are also a job creation vector.
The company’s first turbine was installed in Fernando de Noronha in the 2000s. And more recently, over the last twelve years, the company has had a very important presence with investments and the technology localization of wind turbines.
