Dürr Redefines Sustainable Production With Innovative Atomization Technology, EcoBell4

EcoBell4, a revolutionary line of atomizers launched by Dürr, is taking sustainable production to new heights. The technology, remarkably innovative, features an impressive efficiency of up to 98% in varnish application. The implementation of EcoBell4 results in a significant reduction in paint waste and the consumption of rinsing agents, achieving a savings of 50% during color changes, and reaching up to 91% when combined with the modern concept of modular paint booth, EcoProBooth.

EcoBell4 Atomizers: Sustainability and Efficiency in Paint Application

Dürr’s new atomizers – the EcoBell4 Pro Hu with direct feed and the EcoBell4 Pro Ux with external feed – represent the cutting edge of technological innovation. When it comes to varnish application, the atomizers achieve application efficiencies of 95 to 98%, according to the DIN EN 13966-1 standard.

The secret lies in the optimization of several process parameters: the speed and distance of spraying are reduced, enhancing the impact of high voltage while maintaining a high paint flow rate. Additionally, the shaping air is minimized, and high voltage control is adjusted. All this results in exceptional paint application performance.

To substantiate this remarkable efficiency, Dürr is conducting tests on a specific automotive paint line, in collaboration with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Current systems are also adaptable to this innovation.

EcoBell4 Atomizers: Reduced Consumption and Fast Color Changes

In addition to the advancement in the painting process, EcoBell4 atomizers offer a significant improvement in color change efficiency, thanks to an innovative design. With Dürr’s exclusive technology featuring four main nozzles, the EcoBell4 enables faster color changes than any other high-speed rotary atomizer on the market. This technological advancement not only saves time but also reduces paint and rinsing agent consumption, while decreasing volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

With three of the four main nozzles dedicated exclusively to the most commonly used colors, the system can switch to another main nozzle in just four seconds, without the need for rinsing and cleaning. This procedure significantly reduces paint waste and rinsing agent consumption related to color changes.

The Integration of EcoBell4 With EcoProBooth: A Combination of Economy and Sustainability

The consumption of paint and rinsing agent is reduced by 51% with EcoBell4, compared to the previous version, EcoBell3, in the conventional production line scenario. The new generation of atomizers, in partnership with the EcoProBooth paint booth, further optimizes efficiency. With internal and external painting occurring in a single booth, color change and handling times are reduced.

The universal atomizer EcoBell4 Pro Ux is the perfect match for the EcoProBooth, suitable for external, internal, and metallic painting applications. The combination of EcoBell4 Pro Ux with EcoProBooth results in savings of up to 91% during color changes, reducing paint waste and rinsing agent consumption.

“The amount of paint saved would be enough to paint more than 15,600 car bodies,” says Frank Herre, Head of Application Technology Development at Dürr.
