Petrobras Left Macaé, But Other Companies Now Want to Take Over the City, Exclusive Interview Provided to Click Petróleo e Gás, Check Out the Audio

Macaé recognized internationally due to its activities in the oil and gas industry, just like other cities in the sector, has been suffering from the crisis, as you can see in the article by accessing here, this is no news to anyone. This difficulty is exacerbated by the transfer of about 80% of Petrobras activities from the municipality to the Porto do Açú, this is a fact and there is no turning back! However, in the pursuit of more information about the situation in Macaé and what would be the most viable economic solution in the short term, I obtained technical and REVEALING information that revived the hopes of our Princess of the Atlantic and mine as well, after all, I am also a resident of the city and like it here, despite the problems and difficulties. In the next paragraphs, you will learn in detail everything that was revealed in the interview, the text is a bit long, if you can’t read it now, save the link on your Facebook or share it so you don’t forget if you don’t have time right now.

Rita Coelho, who is one of the representatives of the Macaé Porto Já movement, revealed that Macaé no longer has conditions to dock large ships because the Imbetiba port is very silted, and dredging work was not done in a timely manner. As a consequence, these vessels cannot enter due to the depth problem; it is too shallow. Additionally, the Porto do Açú accommodates about 47 vessels at a time, compared to 6 at Imbetiba, this among others was one of the main reasons for the migration.

But this is where the big idea begins! Technical studies reveal that the Porto do Barreto is the hope this time. The construction of this project would immediately generate about 4,000 jobs just in construction, and once it is ready, 1,000 direct jobs would also be created within the port, returning purchasing power to the residents of Macaé, resuming offshore operations in the city and neighboring municipalities.

What is ultimately needed to move this project forward?

Incredibly, what is missing is just a signature from the current mayor Aluízio Júnior sanctioning the Zoning Law, to convert the project area into an industrial hub. 3 LARGE COMPANIES ARE ALREADY IDLE AND READY TO ENTER AND START THE WORK. Rita says it is a complex project that will take more than a year to complete, in other words: the economy spinning in the city!

“According to the mayor, amendments were made to the law that benefit only 2 entrepreneurs within the industrial zone, whether it is a war of egos, we don’t know. Whether it is a matter of stubbornness between the mayor and these executives, we also don’t know. Whether he wants some advantage to also be able to release it, we also don’t know, because the hearts of others are lands that no one treads”, exclaims Rita, indignant with the situation.

She further complements that they can use the restinga (mangrove area) as an excuse to not build the port. But this area is not situated in a protected environmental zone, besides that, people are invading lands in the region. So would it be more advantageous to have jobs or invasions in the area?
