With the union of EDP and the Government of the State of Espírito Santo, investments are focused on the expansion of solar energy generation and the energy transition process of several companies.

EDP, a company operating in the Brazilian electric sector, and the Government of the State of Espírito Santo announced last Monday, (01/30), investments aimed at strengthening the energy distribution network and customer service, implementing new Distributed Solar Generation plants, an incentive program for the country’s energy transition, and social projects. In the energy distribution segment, EDP intends to invest around R$ 4 billion from 2020 to 2025.

Digital Solar: The Future of Brazil and the Environment Through Solar Energy Production

EDP’s CEO, João Marques Cruz, comments that, “We are proud of the partnership we have built with the state government and for providing the people of Espírito Santo with a secure distribution network and high-quality energy. But we go beyond that; we want to accelerate the energy transition through Distributed Solar Generation, allowing companies to use our renewable and sustainable energy to develop their businesses.”

In partnership with Sebrae, EDP launches the Digital Solar Program, which aims to provide benefits, tools, and possibilities to make energy transition agendas feasible. Looking for practical solutions and assisting companies in the transition to clean energy, increasing the competitiveness of small businesses in Espírito Santo.

The program, which will be the first of its kind signed in the country, will offer exclusive commercial benefits to associated members of the respective institutions for Digital Solar, Wholesale Market, and Retail products.

Additionally, it also includes EDP’s consultancy in evaluating which energy product will best suit the customer’s routine.

EDP has energy transition through solar, clean, and accessible energy as one of its pillars.

In this segment alone, through Distributed Generation, R$ 225 million will be allocated to the state of Espírito Santo by the end of 2023.

With the development of more than 46 MWp, of which 26 MWp will be allocated to shared generation plants that can serve small to medium-sized companies.

Investments in Energy Distribution and the Energy Transition Process of Companies in Espírito Santo

Making the quality of electricity supply more sophisticated, EDP signed the service order for the construction of two substations in the municipality of Serra, with an investment of R$ 50 million. The operations will benefit around 100,000 residents of the municipalities of Serra and Fundão.

The substations to be built, named Nova Zelândia and Nova Almeida, were designed to expand the energy supply capacity and ensure economic growth, providing support even for the expansion of industrial and tourist activities in the regions.

EDP is making a remarkable investment of R$ 4 billion in the state between 2020 and 2025. This is practically double what was invested between 2016 and 2020.

The contribution focuses on expanding the network, preparing the electrical system for the development of the 70 cities in the operational area.

Promoting operational improvements, reducing losses, combating energy theft, investing in digitization, and customer service.

To this end, EDP understands that a secure, reliable, monitored, and flexible distribution network is necessary.

EDP is making a significant investment aimed at a better and sustainable future. Betting on solar energy generation and encouraging small and medium enterprises to begin the transition to clean energy, ensuring that the state of Espírito Santo thrives.
