Environmental Action Brings Together Community and Award-Winning Surfer at Awareness Event

In celebration of World Environment Day, Ocyan, a renowned oil and gas company, organized a large cleanup action at Imboassica Lagoon, located in Macaé. The event, besides promoting environmental awareness, aimed to engage the company’s employees and their families in nature preservation.

Community Action and Volunteering

With the involvement of 39 volunteers, including employees and their loved ones, the initiative resulted in the collection of an impressive 176.5 kg of trash, a feat that exceeds the previous year’s mark by 112.6%. The presence of local surfer and 2023 Ocyan Brazilian Big Wave Awards winner, Guilherme Hilel, further highlighted the action and emphasized the need for society’s involvement in environmental preservation.

“This movement by Ocyan reflects our ongoing commitment to the community and our responsibility to the environment. With the unity of our employees and influencers like Guilherme Hilel, we seek to make a positive impact and encourage individual actions that preserve and protect our ecosystem”, said André Luiz Barros, Social Responsibility Manager at Ocyan.

The event included an awareness-raising talk that highlighted the importance of each citizen’s role in maintaining environmental balance. Subsequently, the collection of solid waste exceeded expectations, removing a variety of items, such as tires, plastics of different types, shoes, Styrofoam, rubber, cardboard, dishes, and even a fan part.
