Senator From Bahia Highlights Consequences Of The Privatization Of The Mataripe Refinery
The vice president of the committee, Senator Otto Alencar from the PSD of Bahia, highlighted that, after the privatization of the Mataripe Refinery during Bolsonaro’s government to Mubadala Capital, there is a true monopoly in the Bahia market.
“Today in my state there is a monopoly of this refinery, so much so that diesel and gasoline are sold in my state at a higher cost per liter than in Brazil. This relationship with the Mubadala group, which is a group from Saudi Arabia, arises, as well as the valuable gifts that were given to Brazil and that somehow, according to the press, the Federal Court of Accounts, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, were forwarded to the families of former President Jair Bolsonaro, there should be a very close relationship.”
Meanwhile, the president of the committee, Senator Omar Aziz from the PSD of Amazonas, stated that the Senate’s request for new information from Petrobras is about the sale price of the asset. However, the jewelry delivered to Michelle Bolsonaro might be included in the process.
Finally, the Saudi ambassador needs to confirm whether it was or was not a gift from Saudi Arabia and to whom it was given. Now, we must wait for the next steps of the Senate’s request to Petrobras regarding the privatization of the Mataripe Refinery to Mubadala Capital.
