The Goal Is the Creation of the Naval Technology Cluster of Rio de Janeiro, Which Brings Together the Maritime Hub of Niterói and Integrates the Oil and Gas, Port, and Fishing Sectors to Generate Jobs and Business.
The Cluster Project Is Part of the Strengthening Plan of the Maritime Front of Niterói, Which Is Being Developed by the City Hall, Through the Municipal Department of Finance and the Niterói Investment Attraction Agency.
Not Only the Cluster but Also Dredging of the São Lourenço Canal Will Benefit the Port of Niterói and the Entire Sector. The Plan Promises to Bring to Life the Fishing Terminal and Develop Two Other Projects: One Related to the Service Chain and Another to the Tourism Area.
According to the Municipal Secretary of Finance, Giovanna Victer, “Nowadays, the Naval Sector of Niterói Is Seen as Almost Abandoned, Scrapped, and Has Already Had a Great Potential for Job Generation.”
“The Maritime Front Has Many Sectors Besides Shipyards and Naval Construction, Such as Oil and Gas, Tourism, Fishing, and Naval Repairs. Emgepron Has Major Expertise in Marine Economy, So We Started a Conversation Because This Plan Aims to Identify the Main Potentials to Generate Jobs and Prosperity in the Sector,” Concluded the Secretary.
Emgepron’s Intention Is to Mobilize the Seven Cities Surrounding Guanabara Bay (Rio, Niterói, Magé, Duque de Caxias, São Gonçalo, Guapimirim, and Itaboraí), Along with the State of Rio and the Union, to Create Mechanisms and Enable Actions Benefiting the Development of the Naval Industry.
The Cluster Developed by Emgepron Has as Priority Axes the densification of product chains Related to Military and Merchant Naval Construction and Repair, the Generation of Stimuli for the Marine Economy — Such as the Sale of Nautical Charts, Hydrographic Surveys, Dredging, Maintenance of Vessels, Alienation of Naval Means, Docking, and Expertise — and Supporting and Strengthening the Export Platform of the Defense Industrial Base.
According to the Secretary, the Launch of the Strengthening Plan of the Maritime Front Comes at a Time When Investors Are Making Decisions About Where to Establish Their Operations for the Major Oil and Gas Auctions Being Held in This Second Half.
