Candidates Interested In Filling The Vacancy For Administrative Assistant In Portugal Need To Be Regularized And Have Experience.

The Brazilian Embassy in Portugal has just opened a new job opportunity for the position of administrative assistant, with a monthly salary of €1,782.37, equivalent to over R$10,000. The selection process was announced in the notice published by the Administrative Commission, chaired by Diogo de Britto Lyra Barbosa. Applications will be made exclusively online, from April 28 to May 2, 2025. To apply for the position, candidates must be legally residing in Portugal with permission to work, as well as present the required documents in the notice. The work schedule is 40 hours per week, with hours from 9 AM to 1 PM and 2 PM to 6 PM, with exceptions possible according to service needs.

The process is not a public competition, but rather a hiring governed by Portuguese labor law.

Selection Process Of The Brazilian Embassy In Portugal Includes Written Test, Interview And Submission Of Detailed And Digitized Documents

The selection process of the Brazilian Embassy in Portugal will consist of three stages: document analysis, written test, and individual interview. The first phase consists of verifying all documents sent by candidates, which must be digitized and attached to the automated email sent after filling out the electronic form available on the embassy’s official website.

The second stage will be a written test, with essay questions that will evaluate the standard of the Portuguese language, as well as clarity, coherence, and grammatical correctness of the texts. Knowledge in public administration, administrative law, and computer science will also be required, especially regarding Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Power Platform.

Candidates who do not achieve a minimum score of 60% (18 points out of 30) in the written test will be automatically disqualified. The top 10 candidates, respecting ties, will move on to the final stage, which will be the individual interview, worth up to 40 points.

Candidates Must Prove Regular Residency, Experience And Competence In The Portuguese Language

To participate in the selection, candidates need to meet a series of requirements described in the notice. They are:

  • Minimum age of 18;
  • Completed high school (12th grade in Portugal or equivalent in Brazil);
  • Minimum of one year of experience in administrative functions, with proof in the form of a declaration issued by a previous employer;
  • Documentation proving legal residency and work permission in Portugal, for Brazilian citizens or third-country nationals;
  • Active registration in the Portuguese Social Security;
  • Valid criminal record certificate issued by a Portuguese authority;
  • Updated detailed resume;
  • Proficiency in the standard of the Portuguese language (oral and written).

Any candidate who does not master the Portuguese language, or does not present practical knowledge of basic computer programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Lists, will be excluded from the process.

Participation is also prohibited for persons who have a degree of kinship up to the second degree with employees stationed at the embassy or at other diplomatic posts in the same city, as determined by the notice.

Job At The Brazilian Embassy In Portugal Offers Stability And Possibility Of Future Calls Within The Validity Period

Although it is only an immediate vacancy, the notice states that the validity of the selection process is one year. That is, within this period, the Embassy may call approved candidates to fill any temporary or permanent vacancies that may arise, always respecting the ranking order.

The work regime will be governed by Portuguese labor laws, with all applicable benefits and deductions. The base salary of €1,782.37 per month will serve as the basis for calculating the legal additions. The position does not offer assistance for visa or transportation costs, therefore the candidate must already be legally residing in Portuguese territory with permission to engage in paid activity.

In the “Selection Processes, Administrative and Bids” section, interested candidates will be able to access all instructions starting April 28. After filling out the form, candidates will automatically receive an email from the embassy, in which they must attach all the digitized documents required by the notice.

Applications that: will not be considered:

  • Present incomplete documentation;
  • Send illegible or questionable authenticity files;
  • Disobey the rules described in the notice.

The Brazilian Embassy in Portugal will not provide a work visa or any type of consular support for obtaining documentation. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate is already regularized in the country at the time of application.

Contract Will Be Formalized Based On Portuguese Laws, And Work Schedule Foresees Multifunctional Activities

The selected professional will work in various sectors of the Embassy, performing typical duties of an administrative assistant. Among the activities are:

  • Processing documents;
  • Support in managing purchases and contracts;
  • Assistance in bidding processes;
  • Working in human resources.

The work schedule is 40 hours per week and may, in exceptional cases, be extended according to service needs. The labor relationship will be formalized according to Portuguese law, and there will be no link with the Brazilian government in the molds of federal public competitions.
