The New Oil Section Discovered by Oil and Gas Giant Enauta is Located in the Atlanta Field
Enauta, a Brazilian oil and gas company, made a significant discovery by finding oil in a new reservoir section in a well located in an offshore development field in Brazil, the Atlanta Field. The promising discovery reinforces the country’s potential as an important oil producer and drives the energy sector in Brazil. The details of the discovery were disclosed by Enauta in an official statement, revealing the continuous progress of exploration and oil production in the country. This Enauta Discovery in the Atlanta Field could open new opportunities and drive economic growth in the oil and gas sector in Brazil.
The oil operator Enauta confirmed the presence of oil in a new section of the reservoir in the Atlanta Field, called the Atlanta NE accumulation, located 2,644 meters deep in a well designated 9-ATL-8DP. This discovery in the Atlanta Field occurred during a drilling campaign that started in late 2022, aiming to collect additional data from the accumulation while drilling the production well 7-ATL-7HA-RJS. Enauta identified oil with excellent petrophysical properties in a measured depth section of 57 meters.
Well Capacity in the Atlanta Field May Reach 230 Million Barrels of Oil
According to the company’s preliminary estimates, the resources of the Atlanta NE accumulation exceed 230 million barrels of oil. However, further studies will be conducted to assess the complete technical and economic potential of the Atlanta Field, the integration with the ongoing field development and the addition of certified oil reserves, which currently stand at 158.9 million barrels (2P Reserves) based on the report issued by Gaffney, Cline & Associates on December 31, 2022.

In addition to the discovery, Enauta acquired the FPSO OSX-2 for the Full Development System (FDS) of Atlanta last year. The FPSO, known as FPSO Atlanta, will replace the FPSO Petrojarl I and is expected to be fully operational by 2024. The FDS aims to achieve first oil by mid-2024, with a production capacity of 50,000 barrels of oil per day. Initially, six wells will be connected to the FPSO in the Atlanta Field, with plans to expand to ten wells by 2029.
The Atlanta Field, located in block BS-4 in the Santos Basin, in a water depth of 1,500 meters, is operated by Enauta Energia, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company. The field has been in production since 2018 through the Early Production System (EPS), which currently has three wells connected to the FPSO Petrojarl I. This new discovery in the Atlanta Field represents an important milestone for Enauta and strengthens the growth outlook for the oil and gas sector in Brazil, reinforcing the country’s potential as an energy producer.
