Sisu 2026 Will Open Registrations Starting January 19 and Adopt a System That Selects the Best ENEM Score Between 2023, 2024, and 2025. Understand.
The Sisu 2026 will mark an important change in the process of accessing Brazilian public universities. Starting from this edition, the system will automatically analyze candidates’ performance in the three most recent editions of ENEM — 2023, 2024, and 2025 — and will use only one of them, the one in which the student achieved the best overall score. Registrations will begin on January 19 and will continue until 23.
The update was confirmed by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and aims to make the process more efficient and expand opportunities for those who took the test multiple times.
Sisu 2026: System Automatically Selects the Most Advantageous Score
Unlike what has been reported on social media, the new model of Sisu 2026 does not allow mixing scores from different years.

What changes is that the system itself will compare the available editions and select a single complete test for the spot competition.
Thus, if the candidate’s best performance occurred in ENEM 2024, all scores from that edition will be used, respecting the weights defined by each course. There is no possibility of combining subjects from different years.
Candidate Does Not Need to Make Any Decision About the Score
One of the practical changes is that the student will not need to manually choose which edition of ENEM they wish to use.
The selection will be automatic and based exclusively on the highest weighted average achieved in one of the three years considered.
This reduces errors at the time of registration and prevents losses from incorrect choices, especially among candidates who retook the exam seeking to improve their results.
The rules for those who took ENEM as a practice candidate remain the same. Participation before the completion of high school does not count towards Sisu 2026.
For example, if a student took ENEM in 2023 as a practice candidate and retook the exam in 2024 as a graduate, only the most recent score will be considered by the system.
Largest Edition of Sisu Since the Program’s Creation
In addition to the change in score usage, Sisu 2026 will also be the broadest edition ever held.
In total, 274,800 spots will be offered, distributed across 7,388 courses from 136 public higher education institutions.
According to the MEC, there has never been this many participating universities in a single edition of the program, significantly expanding the system’s reach across the country.
Course Selection Follows the Traditional Model
During the registration period, each candidate may indicate up to two course options, defining the order of preference.
These choices may be altered throughout the period, based on the cut scores published daily.
This dynamic allows the student to monitor competition and adjust their strategy according to the evolution of averages.
Why the Change in Sisu 2026 May Favor Candidates?
By allowing Sisu to automatically evaluate three editions of ENEM, the new model reduces the impact of specific situations, such as health issues, nervousness, or challenges faced in a single exam year.
This allows the system to better reflect the candidate’s academic potential, without altering the merit criteria required by public universities.
