Marcelo Freitas’ company uses the shared solar energy generation business model, which is the process of bringing together various consumers through consortiums and cooperatives. According to the executive, shared generation has the same benefits for small retailers as migrating to the free market does for large companies.
The founder of Prospera claims that, in shared photovoltaic generation, small consumers can access clean energy, with savings that can instantly reflect positively in their pockets.

To make access to solar energy feasible for small businesses, Prospera purchases solar energy from photovoltaic farms located in the city of Cruzeiro (SP) and offers credits in loyalty programs. The company’s first program is the ECO100 machine, a payment device that has a significant difference in converting payments into bonuses to pay the electricity bill.
The other product, the Clean Energy Voucher, operates like a Transportation or Food Voucher, but focusing on energy consumption. For Marcelo, shared solar energy is the way the business found to generate impacts on small businesses, providing sustainable and accessible options without getting bogged down in technical terms. Freitas points out that products were created focusing on the customer experience, who may know little about the relationship between kilowatt-hours and other details.
Company Partners with Enel for Photovoltaic Generation
It is important to mention that photovoltaic generation is a market that has been expanding tremendously in Brazil, considering that the solar energy matrix today exceeds the installed capacity of the Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant, with an operational capacity of 14 GW, according to data from the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (Absolar).
With approximately 5 years of operation in the market, the shared solar energy platform caught the attention of giant companies in the electricity sector, such as Enel Brazil. Currently, the Italian distributor has a partnership with Prospera through Enel X, a company of the group that works with technology and innovation, to bring the benefits program to all areas of Enel’s concessions.
Freitas emphasizes that the company aims to implement 350 MW of power in these concession areas by 2026 to bring Prospera’s alternatives to small retailers.
Prospera Aims to Make Renewable Resources More Accessible to End Customers
Currently, Prospera has a base of approximately 500 clients spread across the states of São Paulo, the Federal District, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás, and Ceará. Revenue last year was approximately R$ 6.7 million, and the expectation for this year is to reach R$ 42.2 million in revenue.
The shared solar energy platform provided 8.5 MW of energy last year and plans to deliver a total power of 53.5 MW for 3.2 thousand customers this year.
One of the initiatives’ goals, since it was founded, is to make renewable resources more accessible to end customers. According to the company’s executive, democratization has been rapidly expanding in various sectors of the Brazilian economy, and with solar energy, it is no different.
