Márcio Takata, director of Greener, stated that “This reflects the maturation of the distributed generation (GD) photovoltaic market, as the segment begins to gain more traction and entrepreneurs start to operate on a larger scale and become more structured. They see a relevant path in solar energy, often becoming the main business model, the main product.”
The director further emphasized that “Likewise, it is important to point out that 58% of companies still diversify their product range, especially those that are newer to the segment, as many operate with different products to complete their portfolio – a measure that is also positive in terms of bringing greater diversification and less risk.”

Solar Energy Sector Grows and Expectation for Major Investments in 2021
According to a survey by Absolar – Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy, Brazil sets a new record in the solar energy sector. Investments in the area exceed 13 billion reais. This year, entrepreneurs and companies in the segment project that industries from various sectors will continue to invest.
In terms of capacity for generating clean and renewable energy, Brazil currently has 7.5 gigawatts (GW) of photovoltaic solar energy to generate electricity, including large factories and small to medium systems installed on rooftops, exterior walls, and land (distributed generation), which is responsible for more than half of the installed capacity of the Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant, the largest in Brazil and the second largest in the world.
