More Than 5 Thousand Jobs in Finland: The Happiest Country in the World Needs Qualified Professionals in IT, Engineering, and Other Areas. It’s the Chance to Earn Up to 8,000 Euros Per Month with Guaranteed Quality of Life!
The happiest country in the world is in search of foreign talent to fill a deficit of more than five thousand vacancies in areas such as IT, engineering, education, healthcare, and even hospitality services.
But what truly makes this news surprising is the promise of quality of life, combined with attractive salaries and the opportunity to live in Finland, where the birth rate is low and the job market increasingly relies on qualified professionals from abroad.
According to the UN World Happiness Report 2024, Finland stands out as the happiest country in the world.

However, with a small population of 5.5 million inhabitants, the country faces a growing challenge to maintain its economic development pace and thus seeks professionals from other nationalities to fill its vacancies.
The opportunities are varied and require, at a minimum, a good command of the English language, as well as experience in high-demand areas such as information technology, engineering, and specialized services.
According to Alessandra Leone, talent manager at Work in Finland, the country values cultural diversity and sees Brazilians as an excellent source of technological and innovative skills.
“Brazil has a strong presence in IT and software development, areas highly valued in the Finnish economy,” says Leone, adding that to apply, it is essential to have qualifications properly recognized in the local market.
Requirements to Live and Work in Finland
The Finnish government has simplified the immigration process to attract qualified professionals.
To live and work in the country, a work contract, valid passport, and residence permit are required. This process can be done online through the Enter Finland portal, which offers visa options for various situations:
- Business Visa: allows a stay of up to 90 days for participation in events.
- Residence Permit for Self-employment: intended for entrepreneurs and cooperative members.
- Employee-based Permit (International Specialist): the most common, aimed at professionals planning to reside in the country.
- EU Blue Card: for highly qualified workers, with high remuneration and higher education.
- Visa D, introduced in 2022: allows fast entry for specialists and their families, with processing times of up to 10 days.
High-Demand Areas and the Role of Language
As Leone explains, English is widely used in professional environments, especially in sectors such as technology and engineering, where it is possible to work without knowledge of Finnish.
However, Finnish and Swedish are required for public functions and positions that involve direct customer contact.
Marina Velikova, head of solutions at Barona, mentions that among the available jobs are opportunities for IT specialists, engineers, SAP consultants, welders, industrial painters, and CNC machine operators.
“In Finland, it is illegal to charge candidates, so we are strict in ensuring transparency in the recruitment process,” emphasizes Velikova.
Quality of Life and Salaries in Finland
The cost of living in Finland varies by city. Helsinki, for example, is the capital with the highest costs, while smaller cities like Tampere and Oulu offer more affordable options.
In terms of salaries, the average range varies from 2,500 to 4,500 euros gross per month, with experienced professionals able to reach up to 8,000 euros monthly in areas such as IT and medicine.
“In smaller cities, a net salary of 2,000 to 2,500 euros monthly can provide a good quality of life due to the lower cost of rent and services,” adds Leone.
