Dreaming of Working in Europe? See What the Main Job Vacancies Available for Brazilians Who Want to Live and Work in Austria Are.

In the first quarter of 2024, Austria, located in Central Europe, faced a significant challenge in the job market: approximately 196,400 job vacancies went unfilled, reveals a report from Statistics Austria. This number marks an 8.5% increase compared to the previous year, highlighting a growing shortage of skilled labor in the Alpine country.

What Are the Job Vacancies with the Greatest Labor Shortage?

According to Tobias Thomas, General Director of Statistics Austria, most of the unfilled job vacancies were in the service sector.

Of the 196,400 available job vacancies, 113,200 were in the service sector, 46,100 in manufacturing, and 37,100 in the public sector.

This distribution reflects an urgent demand for professionals in various fields.

According to the 2023 EURES report, some of the most in-demand professions in Austria include mechanics, welders, painters, carpenters, nursing technicians, engineers, and medical professionals, among others.

The need for these professionals may facilitate the work visa process for foreigners interested in contributing to the Austrian economy.

Population Aging and Low Fertility Rate

Austria, with a population of 9.042 million inhabitants, faces the challenge of demographic aging, with an average age of 43.4 years.

The country has recorded a decline in the fertility rate and an increase in deaths relative to births, exacerbating the labor shortage.

As a result, the Austrian economy increasingly relies on foreign workers to fill the available job vacancies.

Work Visas in Austria

For foreigners who are not from the European Union or the European Economic Area, the D visa is required to work in Austria.

However, highly qualified workers can apply for the Red-White-Red card, which offers work and residence authorization for up to two years, facilitating integration into the Austrian job market.

Job Vacancies for Brazilians in Austria

Currently, it is estimated that more than 8,000 Brazilians live in Austria, seeking opportunities in a country known for its quality of life and robust economy.

The labor shortage can be an entry point for qualified Brazilians who wish to contribute and grow professionally in a dynamic and multicultural environment.

Austria faces significant challenges with the labor shortage while simultaneously offering unique job vacancies for foreign professionals.

With a growing demand for various professional profiles, the country is open to receiving global talents willing to contribute to its economic and social development.

This scenario highlights not only the urgent need to fill job vacancies but also the importance of immigration policies that support the integration of qualified foreign workers in Austria, thus strengthening its economy and global community.
