From 2005 to 2023: The Evolution of the Honda Biz 125, Since the Introduction of the 124.9 cm³ Engine to the Fourth Generation with Electronic Fuel Injection and More.

The Honda Biz 125 is one of the most iconic motorcycle models in Brazil, with a successful trajectory that began in 2005. This motorcycle, developed exclusively to meet the needs of the Brazilian market, has evolved considerably since its introduction. This article explores the evolution of the Honda Biz 125 over the years, highlighting the main changes and innovations from 2005 to 2023.

The Early Years of the Honda Biz

Launched in 2005, the Honda Biz 125 marked a significant evolution compared to the previous version of the Biz line, which dates back to 1998 and had 100 cubic centimeters.

The new Biz 125 came equipped with a 124.9 cm³ engine, offering a maximum power of 9.1 hp at 7,500 rpm and a torque of 1.06 kgfm at 3,500 rpm.

With this configuration, the motorcycle reached a top speed of about 100 km/h, which was suitable for its main purpose: urban transportation.

The original model of the Biz 125 had a consumption of approximately 40 km/l, with a 4-liter fuel tank, providing an autonomy of about 160 km.

In 2006, Honda introduced the Biz 125 + model, which stood out for the inclusion of a disc brake on the front wheel, although without an ABS system.

The Transition to Electronic Fuel Injection

In 2009, the Honda Biz 125 received a significant upgrade with the addition of the PGM-FI electronic fuel injection.

This technology improved engine efficiency and reduced pollutant gas emissions. Furthermore, the model featured an enhanced rotary shift pedal, making gear changes easier.

Another important innovation was the introduction of a hook for carrying bags, a redesign of the instrument panel, and a new indicator light switch.

The models were offered in the KS version, with pedal start, and ES, with electric start.

Fuel consumption was also reduced by 7%, reflecting the effectiveness of electronic fuel injection.

The Advancement to Flex and Aesthetic Updates on the Honda Biz

Starting in 2011, the Honda Biz 125 was equipped with a flex engine, allowing the use of ethanol and gasoline.

This model also brought a significant improvement in fuel tank capacity, increasing from 4 to 5.5 liters, boosting autonomy to about 200 km.

In 2011, Honda launched the Biz 125 EX, an enhanced version of the Biz 125 +, which included button electric start, front disc brake, and alloy wheels.

The aesthetic and ergonomic improvements included a more comfortable riding position, with a higher handlebar and wider seat, as well as footrests for passengers fixed to the frame, a larger front shield, and a new headlight.

The Fourth Generation of the Honda Biz

The year 2018 marked the arrival of the fourth generation of the Honda Biz 125, which brought a series of significant improvements.

Among the most notable updates are the CBS brakes, which enhanced the safety of the motorcycle, and the inclusion of an electronic panel and a 12V socket.

The seating area was also expanded for greater user comfort.

Fuel consumption efficiency reached new heights, with the Honda Biz 125 achieving up to 70 km per liter in urban tests.

The pedal start was discontinued, with the motorcycle now exclusively using the electric start system.

Tips for Buying a Used Motorcycle

If you are considering the purchase of a used Honda Biz 125, it is essential to check the history of the vehicle before finalizing the purchase.

Make sure that the motorcycle has been well maintained and serviced, and check for any history of accidents or mechanical issues.

A thorough examination can prevent unpleasant surprises and ensure that you make a good deal.

The Honda Biz 125, since its launch in 2005, has established itself as one of the most popular motorcycles in Brazil, thanks to its reliability, fuel economy, and practicality.

Over the years, the model has undergone various updates that improved its performance, comfort, and efficiency.

The evolution of the Honda Biz 125 reflects not only the needs of Brazilian motorcyclists but also Honda’s commitment to meeting these demands with innovation and technology.
