New Terminal Near Maragogi Will Have Domestic And International Flights, Modern Structure, And Is Set To Transform Tourism And The Local Economy
With a modern structure and a projected full delivery by 2026, the new Costa dos Corais Airport is expected to put Maragogi on the map of Brazilian and international commercial aviation.
Located a few kilometers from the municipal seat, the airport will feature a runway of 2,200 meters in length and 45 meters in width, capable of accommodating large aircraft such as the Airbus A320 and the Boeing 737-800.
The initiative aims to facilitate tourist access and boost the development of one of the most sought-after regions of the northeastern coast.

Modern Infrastructure For Tourism And Logistics
The structure of the new terminal includes over 1,000 m² of usable area for passengers, two boarding and disembarking gates, four check-in counters, and a X-ray machine.
In addition, the airport will have parking for cars and buses, a helipad, administrative areas, and support systems such as fire fighting, public lighting, and bike lanes on the access road.
The total investment is R$ 371 million, financed through a credit operation with Banco do Brasil. The construction is divided into phases, with the first expected to be completed later this year.

Easy Access To One Of The Main Coastal Destinations
Currently, tourists wishing to visit Maragogi need to land at the airports in Maceió or Recife and travel over 130 kilometers by road to reach the destination. With the new airport, this journey will be reduced, offering greater convenience to visitors.
Known as the “Brazilian Caribbean,” Maragogi attracts travelers for its beaches and natural pools. The construction of the airport represents a strategic shift for tourism in the region. The expectation is that, with the inauguration, the city will receive between 10 to 15 weekly flights at the start of operations.
Expectations For International Flights And Cargo Transport
With a runway capable of accommodating aircraft such as the A320 and B737-800, Costa dos Corais Airport will be ready to operate international flights, in addition to regular domestic connections. Future plans also include cargo movement, which could directly benefit the region’s trade.
The robust structure reinforces the goal of making Maragogi a new gateway for tourism and logistics in the state of Alagoas.
Privatization Process Underway
At the end of May, the Government of Alagoas initiated the concession process of the airport to the private sector. The Expression of Interest Procedure (PMI) was published in the Official Gazette and allows companies or consortia in the sector to submit technical studies to model the terminal’s concession.
Proposals must be submitted by June 15. The state has appointed a special committee to oversee the entire process. The search for private partners is part of a strategic development plan for the northern coast of Alagoas.
Presentation To International Investors

A state government delegation presented the project to Arab investors, although no formal proposal has been made so far. The aim is to attract qualified operators to ensure the efficient management of the new airport.
The concession aims to ensure that the facility operates sustainably and with growth capacity, keeping pace with the tourism and commercial demand in the region in the coming years.
Maragogi Highlighted In The National Scenario
With about 30,000 inhabitants, Maragogi is famous for its paradise-like scenery. The city offers catamaran tours, local cuisine, and an experience that blends tranquility with intense tourist activity during high season.
With the delivery of the new airport, the city is expected to establish itself as one of Brazil’s main destinations. In addition to shortening distances, the project broadens horizons for tourism and the regional economy.
The commercial operation of Costa dos Corais Airport will be the second in the state of Alagoas. Thus, it is expected that the flow of visitors will grow significantly, solidifying Maragogi as a new tourist center in the Northeast.
