Embark on the Lunar History of This Brazilian City! Balneário Camboriú, the Jewel of the Santa Catarina Coast, Preserves the Rich Trajectory of Astronauts in Space Missions
Imagine stepping into a place where the history of the lunar conquest comes to life, with real pieces from NASA and experiences that take you straight to the 1960s! Since March 2024, Balneário Camboriú, the jewel of the Santa Catarina coast, hosts Space Adventure, a space that gathers the largest collection of original items from the US space agency outside American territory. Get ready for an unforgettable journey behind the scenes of the missions that marked humanity!
A Space Treasure in the Heart of Santa Catarina
Located on Avenida das Flores, in the Estados neighborhood, Space Adventure in Balneário Camboriú is a true living museum. With over 300 authentic pieces from the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs, the park immerses visitors in the golden era of lunar exploration. “It’s like stepping into a piece of NASA history,” says Rafael Reisman, curator and creator of the project, in an interview with G1. From control panels to rocket parts, each item tells a story of innovation and courage.
Pieces That Made History
The park’s collection is breathtaking. Want examples? You can see up close the backup suit of astronaut Buzz Aldrin, used as a backup in the Apollo 11 mission, which took man to the Moon in 1969. There is also an original boot, still with traces of lunar dust, carefully protected. “These items are unique and bring the thrill of being so close to something that was on the Moon,” comments Ana Paula Castro, a park guide, in a statement to NSC Total. Additionally, there are thermal garments to face lunar cold and even a lunar rock on display for the public.

Lunar Launch Simulator Recreates the Thrill of a Space Launch
Space Adventure goes beyond a static exhibition. One of the highlights is the lunar launch simulator, which recreates the thrill of a space launch in a 360º room. “The feeling is of really leaving Earth,” says tourist João Silva, in a review on TripAdvisor. Life-size replicas of the lunar module and the control room in Houston, Texas, complete the experience, showing how NASA teams coordinated historic missions.
Want to Know How Astronauts Go to the Bathroom in Space?
Want to know how astronauts go to the bathroom in space? The park has answers! Panels and exhibitions detail curiosities, such as the urine collection system used in the missions. You can also check out photos and information about the first animals sent into space, a milestone in the space race. “These details show how much the space agency needed to innovate to overcome challenges,” explains Reisman to G1.
Planetarium Created in Partnership with the American Museum of Natural History
The park also features an external planetarium, created in partnership with the American Museum of Natural History, with 4K projections that take you on a journey through the cosmos. For those who love technology, there are state-of-the-art virtual reality games and a themed café to relax between attractions. “It’s a place for all ages, from children to adults fascinated by science,” emphasizes the park manager, Mariana Lopes, in an article from Diário Catarinense.
Space Adventure is open from Monday to Thursday, from 9 AM to 6 PM, and from Friday to Sunday, including holidays, from 9 AM to 7 PM. Tickets can be purchased directly on the official website of the theme park. Located in Balneário Camboriú. “We are proud to bring a piece of NASA history to Brazil,” celebrates Reisman.
