Duplication of the Highway in the Central-South of Paraná Advances with Rigid Pavement, Million-Dollar Investment, and New Bridge, While the State Government Executes a Broader Package of Road Works Focused on Durability, Operational Safety, and Reorganization of Regional Traffic.
The duplication of the PRC-466 between Guarapuava and the district of Palmeirinha, in the Central-South of Paraná, has reached 87% completion, according to information from the Paraná Department of Highways (DER/PR).
The contract totals BRL 139,785,485.97 and covers 11.52 kilometers, with the implementation of rigid concrete pavement and restoration of the existing road using the method known as whitetopping.
At this moment, the stretch connecting Palmeirinha to the beginning of the pre-existing dual lane in the urban area of Guarapuava is entering the operational preparation phase.

With a DNA shape, this bridge in Singapore draws attention in modern architecture and surprises tourists by transforming a simple crossing into an unforgettable visual experience in the urban heart.
The strategy outlined by the DER/PR is to direct traffic to the new lane as it is released, allowing the recovery of the old pavement without the need for total closures.
The official estimate is for the completion of the entire project by the end of February.
Concrete Pavement Is Being Adopted on the PRC-466

The project marks the adoption of a model that has been used on highways with heavy vehicle traffic.
The solution involves the construction of an entirely new concrete lane and, subsequently, the recovery of the existing lane with the same technology.
According to the technical description from DER/PR, whitetopping consists of utilizing the existing asphalt as a structural base for applying a layer of concrete.
Thus, the highway undergoes a simultaneous process of capacity expansion and structural reinforcement of the pavement already in use.
Technical Characteristics of the Stretch Under Duplication
The duplicated segment has 11.52 kilometers in length and starts in Palmeirinha, heading towards Guarapuava.
According to the executive project released, the new lane will feature two concrete traffic lanes, while the existing lane will be restored using the method of concrete over asphalt.
The specifications indicate lanes of 3.6 meters in width and shoulders of 2.5 meters on both sides.

The separation between the lanes will be made by a central median or by concrete barriers of the New Jersey type, depending on the geometry of the stretch and road safety criteria defined in the project.
In addition to the duplication, the contract includes adjustments to the curves and reorganization of accesses to bordering properties.
Second Bridge over the Coutinho River Has Already Been Completed
Among the planned structures is the construction of a second bridge over the Coutinho River, parallel to the existing one.
According to DER/PR, the new bridge has already been completed and will integrate into the road system of the duplicated section.
The structure has 40 meters in length and 13 meters in width, dimensions compatible with the new configuration of the highway.
The implementation of an additional crossing seeks to better distribute vehicle flow and reduce bottlenecks in crossing areas over watercourses.
Drainage, Signaling, and Lighting Enter the Final Phase

With the advance of the pavement, the work concentrates on fronts related to the completion of the highway.
Services for implementation of a drainage system, vertical and horizontal signaling, as well as road lighting and landscaping interventions are in progress, as reported by DER/PR.
These elements are responsible for defining the operation of the stretch after full release.
The organization of the lanes, safety during rainy periods, and nighttime visibility conditions are part of this stage.
Nearby Works Total BRL 807 Million on the Same Highway
The duplication between Guarapuava and Palmeirinha is part of a larger set of works on the PRC-466.
According to data from DER/PR, two other segments with similar characteristics are underway: Pitanga–Turvo and Turvo–Palmeirinha.
Together, these contracts represent BRL 807 million in investments and cover over 72.52 kilometers.
The proposal presented by the state government is to create a corridor with a uniform structural standard along an extensive area of Central-South Paraná.
In this context, the stretch currently in its final phase serves as a link between already duplicated segments and others that are still in progress.

Trench and Marginal Road Expand Urban Reorganization
The reconfiguration of urban access has also been included in the announced planning for the region.
According to DER/PR, the implementation of a trench for access to the new Industrial Park of Guarapuava and a marginal road to serve the Atalaia District is planned.
The interventions, according to the agency, will be executed by the municipality of Guarapuava through an agreement with the State Government.
The proposal is to separate local and industrial traffic from the main flow of the highway after duplication.
Survey Registers 85% Approval of the State Government
The work is occurring during a management that shows 85% approval in a survey by the Real Time Big Data institute, released by CNN Brazil.
The survey was conducted on November 25 and 26 with voters from Paraná and measures the evaluation of the state government as a whole.
The index is not directly related to the progress of the work on the PRC-466.
The schedule for the highway continues to be conditioned to the technical execution, inspection, and operational release stages.
