Highway Will Be Duplicated with Concrete Pavement, Bridges, and Overpass. Billion-Dollar Investment Promises to Revolutionize Infrastructure and Boost Tourism.
The state of Paraná is taking an important step in modernizing its road infrastructure.
The PR-412, an essential highway linking Matinhos and Pontal do Paraná, will be duplicated with an investment of R$ 274.5 million.
The project will include overpasses, bridges, and a new central concrete lane, providing greater safety and fluidity in traffic in the coastal region.

Duplication Project Brings Modern Structure and More Safety
The duplication of the PR-412 will cover 14.28 kilometers, from the bridge over the Matinhos Canal to the junction with the PR-407, in Praia de Leste, in Pontal do Paraná.
The project foresees a central lane with rigid concrete pavement, while the side roads will have asphalt pavement.
New bridges will be constructed over the Matinhos Canal and the Balneário River, in addition to an overpass at the intersection of the highway with Avenida Curitiba.
The current lane will be widened and its pavement replaced with 21-centimeter-thick concrete slabs.
To ensure safety, a concrete barrier will divide the lanes, while grassy medians will separate the central axis from the side roads.
The side roads will be one-way and will include parking, sidewalks for pedestrians, and bidirectional bike lanes.

Works Will Begin with the Side Roads
The President of DER/PR, Fernando Furiatti, detailed the strategy for executing the works.
Initially, the new side roads will be implemented, keeping traffic concentrated on the central lane of the PR-412.
As the side roads are released, services to widen the central lane will begin.
The project also includes the installation of lighting at strategic points, such as the central lane, side roads, overpass, and bridges, improving visibility and safety for drivers and pedestrians.
The drainage of rainwater will be carried out under the side roads, avoiding the need to relocate underground networks and poles.
The service order will be issued soon, and the project will have a completion deadline of 1,080 days (three years).
Expansion of PR-412 Will Include Section to Santa Catarina
In addition to the duplication between Matinhos and Pontal do Paraná, the DER/PR plans another major intervention on the PR-412.
The section between Guaratuba and the border with Santa Catarina will also be duplicated, but, unlike the first project, will have asphalt pavement.
However, the bidding process encountered a setback.
In the first session, held at the end of February, none of the participating companies met the required criteria.
To resolve the impasse, a new notice was published on the 28th of the same month, with adjustments to make the competition more competitive.
The new bid was scheduled for July 2, and the expectation is that more companies will participate in the process.
Partnership with Santa Catarina May Expand Improvements
In addition to the projects already confirmed in Paraná, there are negotiations between the governments of Paraná and Santa Catarina to carry out a third duplication project.
This work would take place in the territory of Santa Catarina, between Garuva and the border with Paraná, and would complement the duplication of PR-412 currently up for bidding.
If realized, this partnership would bring direct benefits to drivers who use this important highway link between the two states.
The modernization of these roads reinforces the Paraná government’s commitment to the development of the coast, facilitating access to one of the most visited tourist destinations in the state.
With robust investments and strategic planning, the region prepares for a more modern and efficient infrastructure.
