The New Automotive Hub in Ceará Will Transform Horizonte into a National Reference for Electric Mobility, with the Arrival of General Motors, Production of 100% Electric Vehicles, and Thousands of Direct and Indirect Jobs Expected by 2026.
The automotive hub in Ceará marks a turning point in the regional economy and places the state at the center of the global transition to electric vehicles. Located in Horizonte, in the Metropolitan Area of Fortaleza, the industrial complex will be the first of its kind in the Northeast and is set to begin operations later this year, with the production of the Chevrolet Spark EV, the fully electric model from General Motors.
The project is emerging at a time of strong expansion in the national market for electrified vehicles. By 2025, Brazil is expected to exceed 200,000 registrations of electric and hybrid models, and Ceará has been standing out with a growth rate of over 50% compared to the previous year. The state is now positioning itself as a protagonist in this new phase of clean mobility.
The Structure That Shapes the First Automotive Hub in Ceará
The complex has been installed on the site of the former Troller factory, along the BR-116, at kilometer 37, and already has 12 hectares ready for operation, including warehouses, logistics yards, and adaptable assembly lines.

A 250cc motorcycle that can reach 560 km with a 14-liter tank, features disc brakes on both wheels and is among the most well-known in Brazil.
The project plans for expansion to over 100 hectares, equivalent to 140 football fields, focusing on technology, sustainability, and industrial efficiency.
The operating model is multibrand and flexible, allowing different automakers to share the same structures and reduce production costs.
The concept follows the standard of established hubs in countries like the Netherlands, Finland, Mexico, and Uruguay.
The Ceará differential will be the exclusive focus on clean energy, with the production of electric and hybrid vehicles supported by a green production chain, from battery supply to the development of automotive software.
Job Creation and Regional Development
The implementation of the automotive hub represents a direct boost to the local economy.
In the first phase, more than 250 direct jobs are expected, a number that could reach 9,000 jobs when the complex reaches full capacity.
The initial investment is estimated at R$ 400 million, and the state government is already working to attract auto parts factories and suppliers to consolidate the industrial ecosystem.
In addition to job creation, the project is expected to boost technical training and vocational education in the region.
Courses focused on mechatronics, automotive electrification, and logistics are being structured to meet the new demand from the sector.
The clean industry is becoming a driver of opportunities and innovation for Ceará.
Ceará at the Forefront of Electric Mobility
With the arrival of General Motors and the start of production of the Chevrolet Spark EV, Ceará becomes a reference in electric mobility in Brazil.
The state is already seeing significant growth in the fleet of electrified vehicles, jumping from 2,500 to 3,800 units in just eight months.
With local production, prices are expected to become more accessible, and consumer adoption is anticipated to accelerate.
The dealership network is also expanding at a record pace. There are over 180 GM sales points in the country, with projections to reach 250 by the end of 2025.
This advancement reinforces the strategy for decentralization of the industry and Ceará’s role as a national hub for sustainable mobility.
The automotive hub in Horizonte is more than a factory: it is a symbol of structural change in the Northeast’s economy.
By uniting clean energy, technology, and employment, the project places Ceará on the global map of the industry of the future.
And you, do you believe that the arrival of this hub will consolidate the Northeast as a protagonist in the new Brazilian automotive era?
