The Forecast Is 500 Jobs for the Construction and Assembly of the FPSO Carioca Modules at the Shipyard
The P-69 recently left the Brasfels shipyard, part of the Keppel Group, and the new prospect now is the arrival of the FPSO MV30 Carioca, which will be operated by MODEC. The platform was built in China and is heading to Brazil for the integration and assembly of its topside modules. The union reports that 500 job positions will be needed to complete the unit by October of this year (2018), and this same information was provided by Keppel at the time of the contract announcement.
With no prospects for new work after these activities on the FPSO Carioca, the Metalworkers’ Union of Angra dos Reis states that the blame for this crisis in the shipyards and the entire Brazilian naval industry is a consequence of the coup (impeachment of former president Dilma Rousseff in 2016), causing disinterest from the government in the sector, despite having one of the most qualified workforces in the world in our field.

Contact for the Works
Part of the workers are already at the shipyard after completing the work on the P-69 at Brasfels, and they will remain there until further notice. If there is another round of hiring, it will also be announced in October. Click Petroleum and Gas already has some of the contacts and the method of hiring; we are just waiting for the official announcement to pass them on to you, to avoid any inconveniences or unnecessary gatherings at the shipyard.
