Shipyard in Santa Catarina (SC) Will Open Over 2,000 Job Vacancies With and Without Experience Following Billion-Dollar Partnership Lasting Until 2029

The Expectation Is That Job Openings Will Occur In The City Of Itajaí, Located In The State Of Santa Catarina (SC). In Summary, More Than 2 Thousand Positions Will Be Created For The Construction Of A New Navy Frigate Project In The Region. 

The project, which will create new job openings for professionals with and without market experience, will be developed by the giant Thyssenkrupp Estaleiro Brasil Sul, formerly called Oceana, and was acquired by the German company during the year 2020.  The project will involve the manufacture of frigates.  The signed contract for the construction of the frigates will amount to R$ 9 billion and the deadline for delivery is until 2029. Thus, they will be looking for welders, painters, mechanics, inspectors, and many other laborers. According to the company, the vessels will have a lifespan of at least 35 years, and similar projects may subsequently be developed. 

In addition to the two thousand direct jobs created by the shipyard, it is estimated that more than six thousand  indirect job openings will arise, involving various professionals throughout the city of Itajaí. Most opportunities are advertised through the  GUPY portal of the institution. 

Hiring At The Shipyard Occurs Under The CLT Model 

According to information provided by the news portal ND Mais, it is estimated that all hires at this shipyard will occur under the CLT model, in which the company guarantees its employees the right to receive transportation and meal vouchers, along with paid vacations and contributions to the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS).
