Primeiramente, o mercado de terras raras, assim como o tão falado nióbio, é um mercado pequeno, ou seja, é impossível o Brasil se tornar um país rico graças a esse recurso. Os recursos em Poços de Caldas são excelentes pois são de argila iônica, o que promove um custo de operação muito menor uma exploração ambientalmente amigável caso ocorra a troca catiônica com sulfato de amônio ao invés de cloreto de s****. Já em Araxá é rocha dura, na rocha dura o custo do processo para produção do mix carbonato de terras raras é muito maior, o que vai forçar a venda do concentrado sem agregar nenhum valor, porém, nesse caso, existe uma jazida com teores bem melhores na Bahia. O problema da argila iônica é o custo de mineração, mas em Poços de Caldas esse custo é o mais baixo do mundo tanto devido ao alto ppm nessa argila quanto à recuperação metalúrgica e a espessura da camada de argila.
Uma forma de um grande incremento de recursos para efetivamente fazer a diferença seria a fabricação dos imãs permanentes no Brasil, que já possui toda a tecnologia para essa fabricação. Acredito que uma infinidade de equipamentos utilizarão essa tecnologia por conta da possibilidade de ausência de atrito, o que reduziria a quase zero os custos com manutenção mas, para tanto, os imãs de terras raras terão que chegar num preço acessível. Acho que é possível caso ocorra uma **** verticalizada com as argilas iônicas, que são os recursos com um % maior dos imãs, nesse caso são: neodímio, praseodímio, disprósio e térbio.
