Um 174 Dodge Power Wagon, iconic model from 1974, was found abandoned and stuck between trees after more than four decades exposed to the elements. The unexpected rescue came from a group of enthusiasts, who tried to give the classic a new chance.
The Dodge Power Wagon is no ordinary vehicle. In addition to its reputation as a reliable engine, it has also been a Hollywood star. It has appeared in films and series such as Scary Town, Breaking Bad. e The Secret of Brokeback Mountain, consolidating its status of icon.
Even though it was criticized for its high fuel consumption, the model has always been praised for its resistance and mechanical strength. But, after decades of abandonment, one of the specimens was found in a critical condition.

Dodge Power Wagon – The Rescue
The YouTube Budget Buildz was tasked with the mission of trying to recover the vehicle. The initial scenario was not the best:
- The bodywork was full of dents and covered in rust.
- The tires sank into the ground, practically integrated into the forest.
- The engine was completely inactive, with no signs of life.
Still, the restorers were sure to try to start the engine again.
First adjustments and surprises in the process
After removing the dirt and carrying out a closer inspection, the group discovered that the situation was not as bad as it seemed. The rust had not compromised the entire structure, and the interior was relatively well preserved.
The biggest challenge was under the hood. The small-block V8 required repairs before any attempt at starting could be made.
To revive the truck, the restorers gained:
- New oil for engine lubrication.
- Small mechanical adjustments to avoid failures.
When everything was ready, it was time for the big test.
Engine running, but problems persist
Against all expectations, the Dodge Power Wagon Worked. The sound of the engine echoed again, proving that the classic still had power left in it.
However, the vehicle was not ready to hit the road. Some serious mechanical problems arose:
