Bad Smell And Vultures Worry Residents Of Nova Iguaçu. Soap Factory Turns Into Torment And Generates Reports Of Nausea And Constant Discomfort.

An old problem has gained strength again in Baixada Fluminense. Residents of Estrada de Adrianópolis, in Nova Iguaçu, report what has been happening for years: the constant bad smell coming from a soap factory.

The discomfort affects entire families and causes symptoms such as nausea and difficulty breathing. The impact falls on those who live, work, or pass through the area.

Strong Smell And Vultures Scare Residents Of The Region

The most common report involves the odor that spreads rapidly through the neighborhood. According to residents, the situation has dragged on for years, generating fear and exhaustion.

“It’s an unbearable smell that we have lived with here for years and it doesn’t change. A smell that goes very far, even into neighboring neighborhoods,” said nurse Luana Ferreira.

Closed Houses And Routine Limited By Bad Smell

On hot days, residents say the smell becomes even more intense. Thus, keeping the windows open has become impossible.

“We have to keep the whole house closed all day. Then the smell doesn’t come in,” lamented housewife Rafaela Monteiro.

Thus, physical discomfort appears frequently. Many people report nausea, headaches, and throat irritation, symptoms that reinforce concerns about public health.

Merchants Also Face Losses

The impact goes beyond homes and reaches the local commerce. Those who work near the factory smell the strong odor in their work environment daily.

The situation highlights how the soap factory turns into torment: residents report nausea, vultures, and the bad smell in Nova Iguaçu affects not only well-being but also the local economy.

Smoke From The Chimney Worries And Generates Reports Of Discomfort

In addition to the smell, the smoke emitted by the factory’s chimney causes unrest among residents. Even those who work at the facility report discomfort.

“My son had a health issue, respiratory issues. They say they themselves can’t stand the smell. But they have to work, right?” said housewife Neci Ernesto.

This statement reveals that the problem also affects employees and strengthens the need for a thorough environmental investigation.

Community Demands Answers And Accuses Authorities Of Delay

Thus, residents state that they have reported the situation repeatedly and that, despite mobilizations, nothing has changed.

“Nobody does anything. They have held protests, petitions, they have done everything,” reported retiree Flávia de Oliveira.

According to the community, the company promised to present an environmental impact report, but the document has not been delivered.

What The Company Grande Rio Alimentos Says

In a statement, Grande Rio Alimentos, responsible for the factory, stated that it invests in technologies aimed at odor neutralization and ensures compliance with technical and environmental standards.

The company then reiterated its commitment to the environment and stated that it maintains an open dialogue with residents and authorities, making itself available for clarifications.
