The PROF-FILO is an in-person professional master’s degree, lasting 24 months. Its focus is on teaching philosophy, combining theory and practice to enhance teaching performance in Basic Education.

According to the general coordinator, Professor Eduardo Salles de Oliveira Barra, the course seeks to bring academic research closer to the real needs of teachers: “The challenge is to transform the problems faced in teaching into research projects capable of generating innovative educational solutions”.
Where the Spots Are
In total, there are 300 open spots, and each candidate must choose a field of action. Universities and federal institutes from north to south of the country are included. Some examples:
- University of Brasília (UnB) – 10 spots
- Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) – 14 spots
- Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA) – 16 spots
- Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) – 15 spots
- Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) – 10 spots
- Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) – 11 spots
The complete list includes 25 institutions, ensuring the national coverage of the course.
How the MEC Selection Works
The selection process will have two eliminatory stages: assessment of the research project and online questioning of the project. Only candidates who achieve a minimum score of 7 in each phase will advance.
Priority is given to public school teachers, but up to 30% of the spots may be occupied by teachers from private schools, should there be available places.
There are also provisions for affirmative actions, which vary according to each local core, including quotas for Black, indigenous, quilombola, and people with disabilities.
What Is Required to Register
To participate, the candidate must have a degree in any field and be currently working as a Philosophy teacher.
If teaching another subject, it is mandatory to have a degree in Philosophy. Additionally, it is necessary to prove a teaching link in a Basic Education school, attach personal documents, a degree recognized by the MEC, a statement of teaching activity, and a research project.
Internet access and a computer are also necessary, as some stages occur online.

- Announcement launch: 09/01/2025
- Registration period: 09/01 to 10/20/2025
- Registration approval: by 10/27/2025
- First stage (project assessment): 11/03 to 11/14/2025
- Second stage (online questioning): 11/24 to 12/05/2025
- Final result: 12/16/2025
- Enrollment and start of classes: from 02/03/2026
Registrations Are Already Open
Interested parties must register exclusively through the official website: sigproffilo.c3sl.ufpr.br/selecao.php. The deadline is until October 20, 2025. The fee is R$ 80, but there are no monthly payments; it is a free course, with a diploma valid throughout the country, issued by the participating universities and recognized by the MEC.
